Business Dinner with Suppliers... I was accompanied with 2 colleagues and 2 Mainland Chinese suppliers... As i not know what they would like, i requested the restaurant Manager to choose for us ... So it was a surprise menu! As i not know what they would like, i requested the restaurant Manager to choose for us ... So it was a surprise menu!
So this was our Surprise Dinner
Entrees:
Sliced Presunto (PAta Negra) on a wooden board
Gambas ao Alho
Chourico assado (Roasted in front of us)
Main course (sharing)
Bacalhau a bras
Seafood Rice
Porco assado (roasted suckling pig)
Galinha a Piri Piri (Macau style chicken)
Deserts: Selected
Pears cooked in port wine
Fruit salads
Caramel Pudding
Complimentary Port for all!
Wine: (the only thing i selected) : Reguengos reserve 2010.
On the Table: Bread, Olives and Butter and 2 other pates.
The verdict:
Presunto: The Pata Negra was excellent well cut and well presented! just right with the Whiskeys we were having!
Gambas ao alho: Although not cold water Shrimps, the chef got the spices just right! Excellent!
Chourico assado: It was roasted just in front of us!! The smell is mouth watering! Just sad that the bread was too fancy! The bread should be a more basic bread (Italian style) but also delicious!
Bacalhau a Bras ( Salted Cod Fish) This was delicious ... I wanted all for myself!
Seafood rice: Once again the seasoning was just right to hide the "warm water" seafood sweetness!
Leitao Assado ( suckling Pig ) Well this was too close to the HK style suckling pig ... and the sauce was not the original! So i will restrain from commenting on this ... But others on the table loved it!
Galinha a Piri Piri: Ok, good but chicken always will always come last on my menu selection, specially after such great dishes
Wine - Reguengos:
Excellent wine from the south of Portugal, served at the exact temperature and decanted!! It was divine! If you like uncomplicated Mediterranean wines do have a try!
Service: It took a little too long for things to start arriving at the table... But once they did ... it was 2 hours of Gastronomic bliss.
The service was excellent... Starting with the friendliness, professionalism and help given by the Restaurant Manager and then we had a surprise visit to the table by the head Chef Nelson!
Will be back very soon!!… and next time "I WILL NO SHARE" … The bacalhau will be all for me!
Note of encouragement: Can you please get the Musicians to play something that is not SPANISH!!
