With the month of May came various food fests and a French bistro dinner was available at Six Furlong. The appetizers were pleasing - the lentil soup was smooth and creamy, the pate was rich and buttery, the ravioli with escargots were wonderful when paired with the cheese and cream sauce.
The main dishes were also laudable; the bouillabaisse was authentic and one could taste the effort put in the fish stew, forming a unique experience as one savoured the different kinds of fishes in the stew. The sausage was slightly too heavy on the seasoning, but together with the sides (potatoes, beans) it tasted less salty. The duck breast was well prepared and was tender and went well with the gravy.
As for desserts, the coconut jelly was rather mundane, but the chocolate mousse with sea salt and caramel was a pure enjoyment with the complicated gustatory stimuli with each bite - not too sweet, but the chocolate prevailed.
What made this meal even more amazing was the price; this only amounted to about $250 per capita!
