I took a couple of gastronomes from Manila here for dinner on Saturday. The pond of crabs at the entrace always had a big impact: "what's that crab?" "are we going to eat them?"

We were taken to one of the dining rooms upstairs. It was spacisous and another couple shared that space with us. We ordered one of the mid-priced set menus for TWO (the waiter told us that was sufficient even though there were three of us).

The meal was very good indeed: the sweet corn, crab and urchin soup was refreshing, the grilled legs were succulent, the tempura was superb (especially the soft yoke), and the shabu shabu was really good (crab claws poached in dashi broth). The crab roe congee, which was cooked with the shabu shabu broth, was really rich and very tasty - though with hindsight we should have asked them to half the crab roe as it was very rich! All polished off with a pomelo sorbet.
Other Info. : I think the upstairs rooms are great if you are a big party (six plus), otherwise they could be a little devoid of atmosphere.
