Made a booking with Restaurant Week as it was available on a Friday night. Was unsure when I booked if this was going to be good, but I must say it was a pleasant surprise. Firstly the menu was such a good deal that a set dinner (HKD298 per head)meant for 2 people can easily feed 3. Giant tapas literally serves bigger portion of tapas than other Tapas places I have visited in Hong Kong. Though the dinner was very filling, not all the dishes were impressive. However none of the dishes were
1. Slow cooked egg with potato and truffle.
Being a truffle lover, I guess I am a little biased and tend to love most dishes that has truffle in it. Egg is soft ( perfectly poached) and truffle and eggs are always a safe but a best match at the same time. There was also serrano ham in the dish, but it is the egg and truffle that stole the show .
2. Slow cooked suckling pork .This is not the dish if you are on a diet but it was yummy and despite I am supposed to stay on a healthy diet, I simply cannot resist. The skin was crispy, the meat was moist and tasty. You can feel the "collagen' under the crispy skin , yet it did not feel nor tasted fatty.
3. Seafood Fideau with ginger squid ink and aioli.
Again a very tasty and well executed dish. The pasta was al dente with rich flavours of seafood, squid ink and ginger. Perhaps it was the ginger that gave this dish a special zing that refreshes this dish and stands out from other seafood / squid ink dishes that I had in the past. The seafood was also sweet , so I must say this is a highly recommended dish.
Other Info. :
The restaurant has been selected as one of the winners of Restaurant Week Summer 2017 for best menu
