Verde Mar locates at the upper end of Water Street. Arrived just before 6pm on a Monday, I was the first and only customer throughout my stay there.
There were only two staff in the restaurant (saw a notice near the entrance saying so and that they would try their best to serve), a server who stayed behind the counter at the back of the restaurant most of the time, and a cook in the kitchen. Seeing that the server showed no intention of coming out of the counter, I had to walk up to him to place my order. Ordered their Sangria, Quesadillas and Birria Beef Stew and rice pudding for dessert. All the dishes tasted quite good and prices were reasonable too.
A little story to share.....
There were small bags of Christmas cookies for sales. The server told me that they were made by the owner's son which cost $20 a bag. I offered to buy one and he told me that it was to be paid separately which was fine with me. When I asked for the bill, he brought 2 bills, one for my food and drink, and another $22 bill for the cookies plus 10% service charge. I found it somewhat odd but promptly paid up and left.
I may return to try other dishes on the menu but unlikely to buy any more cookies again.
