This is a favorite lunch spot of mine, as it's extremely close to where I live, extremely cheap, and really good. Today I was completely exhausted from illness and stumbled over for some takeaway dumplings:The menu has 12 types of dumplings but every day they only have between 4 and 7 types. The place closes when the food runs out, meaning I recommend going there early for lunch, around noon. Not quite sure when they open, but people were already eating when I showed up today at noon. The menu has 12 types of dumplings but every day they only have between 4 and 7 types. The place closes when the food runs out, meaning I recommend going there early for lunch, around noon. Not quite sure when they open, but people were already eating when I showed up today at noon.

Today I got the #2, Beijing Mutton & Spring Onion dumplings. I hadn't got mutton here before, so that's why I wanted to try it. The dumplings were nice and flavorful, and very juicy. There wasn't a whole lot of green onion, and the mutton was in slightly larger mince than normal minced meat. I got one inedible piece of gristle, but for the most part they were great.

All the dumplings are $37 for 12 and $42 pan-fried. I might be wrong on the exact numbers, but that's close. I mean, they're cheap and you get a bunch. The pan-fried version is seriously crispy on the bottom-- I like it, but today I got the steamed ones.
Pork and Cabbage Dumplings

I had another photo on my phone from last week's pork and cabbage dumplings (this is number 7 or 8 on the menu, I think). Classic fillings, this is my go-to.

There's one younger guy who works there who speaks excellent English. But even when he's not around, it's relatively easy to communicate. It's important to know that they don't ever have all the things on the menu, so the first thing you need to do is have them clarify the offerings.

I haven't been to a ton of dumpling places all across town, but I do like this place a lot, and consider it better than Wang Fu or Dumpling Yuan.
Other Info. : You also get a light egg-drop soup with the dumplings (as though you needed more food).
