Ok so I've been quite a few times to the hype Yardbird. Time to give it a review. FOODFor the two of us, we ordered quite a few yakitori: thigh, breasts, wings, fillet, meatball. Our favorite by far was the meatball which is ground meat with tare/egg yolk sauce. We absolutely loved this one. The others were ok but nothing really special. We re-ordered a couple of yakitoris as the portions in itself are "cheap" but rather small. I guess that's the trick with tapas/yakitoris restaurants. The price

I guess that's the trick with tapas/yakitoris restaurants. The price looks decent but you need many orders to fill out. In the end we had five each.
Alongside the yakitoris, we had the concumber salad which was fresh and crunchy and the sweet corn tempura that were so so (a bit too sweet to my taste).
SERVICE
I don't know how many waiters, runners and bartenders they have but it's quite impressive.
I found the waiters to be knowledgeable and pleasant.
AMBIANCE / DECOR
That's really what you come here for. The music is popping loud, lots of motown stuff if i recall correctly. The place was pretty packed, it's noisy and buzzy.
The decor is rather simple, almost minimalistic if you really pay attention but i guess somehow it works.
I like the bar area much more than the lower floor which tends to be a bit smokey.
The big downside is the no-reservation policy and the wait time. We waited more than one hour standing, drinking yaki lime before getting a seat. It's so popular i guess people don't mind but you have to be ready for this.
In the end, Yardbird is still a must HK experience.
