The Michelin guide led me to this small little shop in Tai Kok Tsui. It was listed under their street food category, boyfriend and I went in search of it. The shop is tiny. Like REALLY REALLY tiny. You sit cramped away. But the soup is incredible.Menu is in Chinese only. There is English but you must ask for it. It's in the form of a check off system. But what basically happens is you get a choice of soup, add noodles and whatever side dishes you want to add to you noodles. A bit like cart noodl

The Michelin guide led me to this small little shop in Tai Kok Tsui. It was listed under their street food category, boyfriend and I went in search of it. The shop is tiny. Like REALLY REALLY tiny. You sit cramped away. But the soup is incredible.

Menu is in Chinese only. There is English but you must ask for it. It's in the form of a check off system. But what basically happens is you get a choice of soup, add noodles and whatever side dishes you want to add to you noodles. A bit like cart noodles but in a healthier form. There is no 10% service charge and it's cash only. All soups are mushroom based so if you have gout, this may not be the place for you.

Agrocybe ($34). This mushroom supposedly lowers cholesterol yet increases appetite. Boyfriend chose this one. It was packed with lot of mushrooms. Seriously packed with it. I liked it as it was rich and fragrant.

Boletus ($34). This soup helps digestion and relaxation. I chose this one and it was also packed with a lot of mushrooms. This soup was a bit more woody in taste. I liked it enough. It felt so healthy.

Stewed Oxtail ($18). For sides we chose three. The stewed oxtail was rich and the meat literally fell off the bone.

You can eat it all separately or like me, just throw all the items into you bow. along with the soup.

Apple Hawthorne Drink ($10). For ordering  a set, you can add $10 for a drink. I ordered this. I loved this. It was cold and sweet yet not too sweet. Refreshing. I could drink this all day!

Walnut Drink ($10). Boyfriend had this and it was unsweetened. I personally didn't like it as it tasted like drinking soggy oatmeal. But then I don't like oatmeal. But it did have the natural taste of walnuts. Just not for me.

Be prepared to be cramped into a corner while eating. But this is a place worth a detour. The soup is hearty and delicious. There is no MSG and you do come out feeling very full. Prices not expensive at all and staff is friendly enough. No wonder the Michelin guides took a detour here.
