An ill-timed dinner impulse for red meat sent us hurtling into the showers and to our dismay, the steakhouse had closed down. Fortunately this Japanese restaurant nearby was open for business, and we visited it despite some reservations on the part of my fellow diner. An ill-timed dinner impulse for red meat sent us hurtling into the showers and to our dismay, the steakhouse had closed down. Fortunately this Japanese restaurant nearby was open for business, and we visited it despite some reservations on the part of my fellow diner.
We started with minced tuna sashimi rice with crispy seaweed and preserved turnip slices - sashimi was fresh and matched the sushi rice quite well. Then came the stir fry beef with onions which was quite succulent and well marinated, though the salad was rather mundane. The buttered scallop grilled in its shell was quite creamy and tasty. The roast cod had a crispy outer layer and was fatty and juicy on the inside. We found out we had a coupon from our last visit and got green tea ice cream on the house - this had a rich aroma and yet was not too sweet. This coupon was a recurring discount for all diners to be used upon their next visit.
This hearty dinner amounted to $263 per head, which we thought was quite reasonable given the quality of the food and its location.
