As a vegetarian living in Pokfulam, I had to try Grassroots Pantry when I heard about it. They offer a simple menu with a few appetizers to choose from and a few mains. The place has a nice ambience, but the tables are packed quite tightly so that you are practically sitting next to other people like in some coffee shops. A couple of the menu choices were Indian dishes (e.g. palak paneer), which I did not feel tempted to try since about 1000 Indian restaurants in HK offer these vegetarian dishes

A couple of the menu choices were Indian dishes (e.g. palak paneer), which I did not feel tempted to try since about 1000 Indian restaurants in HK offer these vegetarian dishes and the chefs are actually Indian. I opted for the Sichuan stir fry, which turned out to be a bowl of mostly cabbage with chillis and a few bits of mushroom, another bowl of wood-ear fungus and a mantou bun with some dip. It was fine, but I cannot say that it tasted like authentic Sichuan food. My friend ordered a vietnamese banh mi, which was basically a bow of glass noodles with some mushrooms and herbs. I tried a bit and again it it was fine, but nothing special. Didn't order any appetizers as we saw that the portions were very tiny at the adjacent table. So in summary, this place has a nice ambience and attentive staff, the dishes are pleasant but ordinary, but at $145-165, quite overpriced considering that there are no expensive ingredients involved and this location is far from the prime areas of town. For example, LIFE is a long-established organic vegetarian restaurant in SOHO where the prices are probably lower and the portions more generous. The nearby Lite vegetarian restaurant offers set dinners at $130. Felt hungry by the time I got home.
