After my colleagues and i have finished a major project, we finally breathed a sign of relief. To celebrate this few weeks of endless sleep, we decided to pamper ourselves over a dinner. One of my colleagues suggested that we headed over to a Japanese restaurant known for their skewer. The restaurant's decor was very Japanese feel and i could immediately immerse into the environment. The restaurant's decor was very Japanese feel and i could immediately immerse into the environment. For a restaurant famed for their skewer dishes, their menu was very comprehensive. There were appetizers, salads, snacks, meat and seafood etc. Japanese plum wine - it was also known as Umeshu. As i do not really prefer wine and alcohol, umeshu was easy on me. I do not taste much alcohol content on this wine and it goes well with the food. It has a sweet and sour taste and was refreshing. Sakura shrimp salad in Japanese sesame dressing - As this dish was quite unique, i decided to order it. This is the first time i ate salad with sakura shrimp. It was surprisingly delicious. Portion was big and the salad was very fresh and crunchy. Sakura shrimp was crispy and crunchy, and compliment nicely with the salad. Grilled Japanese rice cake with cheese - It was served hot and crispy on the outside and cheesy inside. The combination of cheese and rice cake gave it a gooey texture, kind of like a cheese pizza. Nama unagi - It was also known as grilled fresh eel. The presentation was not those usual unagi that we have eaten, golden brown in colour. It still retained its white meat on the surface and grilled till charred on the surface. The meat was soft and smooth, with its crispiness on the surface. Japanese Inaniwa Udon - It was not those typical udon shape, which is round. It was the flat type. It was meant to be a side dish, that why the serving was small. The taste was alright, but the texture was not that chewy, easy to break it off. Lychee wrapped with pork - It was an interesting dish as it use lychee meat to wrap the pork. As i loved lychee too, I was curious to see how this dish was done. Even though it was grilled, the lychee meat was still able to retain its sweetness and go well with the pork meat, which was abit salty. Grilled pork neck meat - This dish was slight off the mark. It was grilled till slightly tough, thus harder to chew it off. The taste was yummy though. Matcha ice cream - It was complimentary and we were able to choose between matcha, tofu and sesame flavour. Matcha flavour was very strong and the texture was smooth, do not melt easily.
