I was looking for homely dishes and this restaurant met my expectation. Fully seated at around 7pm.Lights in Chinese styleFree rice and soup (chicken feet and carrot soup) for everyone. Lights in Chinese style

Free rice and soup (chicken feet and carrot soup) for everyone. Don’t get scared by the soup name- it is typical Chinese homely soup. Two of us had five dishes and took away the little bit of leftovers. The portion here is standard but just my friend has a big appetite thus we ordered five dishes.

Regular steamed chicken ($80)
Served cold, nicely flavored. Heard that high-level technique is required to prepare the jelly-like skin and here it is!

Fried scallop with broccoli ($98)
A quick fix that is small in effort but great in taste.

Braised pork with preserved vegetable in soy sauce ($78)
It is not a common dish at my place where health is emphasized; pork belly contains high fat content. Anyway the dish is fragrant and delicious. The pork belly is cooked til soft and then fats fill your mouth. The preserved vegetables are seasoned with sugar and soy sauce into reddish brown. Once in a while only!

Stir-fried shrimps with eggs ($88)
Recommend this one! The half-fried eggs paired with shrimps are simple but highly satisfying.

Steamed pomfret with black bean sauce ($88)
The classic Cantonese style of steaming that have the pomfret steamed whole and lightly bathed in unique black bean sauce is adopted- more or less the home version I am accustomed to. The light touch of seasonings work well to retain or even accentuate the fish’s natural delicate texture and sweetness.

Overall, here is a place for homely dishes. A good choice when you are lazy to cook. Also a good choice for foreigners to experience the real taste of Chinese food. By the way, the western man next to my table ordered two dishes and read along the meal.
