I wanted to have something different for lunch the other day so I searched up this Thai restaurant which had no sad faces, thinking that it should be pretty good...From the reviews I saw that the hainan chicken seems quite nice, but I also wanted to try my favourite pork neck so I ordered the hainan chicken/pork neck rice, along with an iced longan drink. The drink came first and I had no idea what it's supposed to taste like since I've never had a longan drink before, but I doubt I would ever wa

The drink came first and I had no idea what it's supposed to taste like since I've never had a longan drink before, but I doubt I would ever want to order this drink here again because it tasted so sweet my teeth nearly fell off! Seriously all I can taste is sugar syrup and not a trace of longan flavour...plus that little longan fruit in the drink was tasteless and not too fresh either.

Okay so the drink put me off already, and the food came soon after the drink, which didn't make me any happier. I was kinda speechless at how much rice and how little chicken/pork there were. First of all, the chicken was not tender at all, as they gave me the parts near the chicken breast..! The pork neck was sliced too thinly and lacked moisture, the rice was too much on the dry side unlike the usual soft oily rice that comes with hainan chicken. They can't even be a bit more generous with the tomato/cucumber garnish, not to mention everything was only lukewarm when brought to the table...certainly not worth $48.

Today I decided to give this restaurant another shot and I ordered the crab curry chicken rice and a hot milk tea this time. First thing I noticed was the unappetizing layer of orange oil on top of the sauce, I am aware that these sort of eateries tend to use excessive amounts of oil but I'd prefer not to see it floating on top of my food...
Overall this tastes better than the chicken/pork rice only because of the HK style curry sauce which I cannot find any existence of crab?? The chicken was nothing special, boneless and relying on the curry sauce to give it the curry flavour. This is supposedly spicy according to the menu but I can't even taste a mild spiciness except for a particular piece of hot chilli sitting in the rice...

Lastly I would like to comment on their preferential service to large groups of customers, both times I came alone and nobody attended to me even when I waved the menu in the air, but funnily enough they went and took the order of a large group first, who came inside after me!!
