Today I found a gem.

To celebrate my wife’s birthday, I looked on the Internet for good restaurants. I came across one called “La Favorita”, and I was immediately attracted by its photos of Italian grandeur and fine decorations, so I booked there to eat tonight.

When my wife and I got there, we were impressed by the drapes, ornamented ledges, and luxurious sofas. We ordered the Vitello Tonnato antipasti, followed by 2 main dishes: The Codfish alla Mugnaia and Tagliata di Manzo. The Vitello, which is roasted veal with tuna mayo and Sicilian capers is a refreshing surprise. The combined flavour of the veal and the sauce is Oh My Super Delicious! It certainly got me anticipating on what the main dishes taste like.

The Codfish is very juicy. Normally I would expect thin pieces, but presented in front of me are thick and chewy pieces, in which both of us liked a lot. The Tagliata, which is the Wagyu beef striploin, is a different flavour of deliciousness. We ordered Medium, but when it got here, it’s almost equivalent to Medium well, which was exactly what us both preferred actually. Combined with the small mushrooms, it provides a good taste alternative that pairs up well with the codfish.

The most memorable part was the last part. When I made the booking on OpenRice, I specified that this is a birthday occasion. The waiters and waitresses came with to our table with a lemon sorbet, and jointly sang “Happy Birthday” to my wife… in Italian! This was definitely not in my plans and exceeded my expectations. I’m very impressed with their surprise, and after the meal, my wife told me that she felt so sweet that they put their full effort in making the birthday girl happy. It was the most memorable moment for her in the entire night.

Good food, good scenery, and good staff spirit. That’s why I said I found a gem, as this is a great restaurant and I would recommend my friends to try this place too.
