A thoroughly wonderful experience! My highest acclamation for the excellent "teamwork" and service of the staff there, then the food, and the decor - a cozy, very French, decor. We ordered, amongst the five of us, 2 appetizers (duck breast salad and salmon tartar), 1 bowl of mussels, and 2 mains (lobster deshelled then cooked in white wine cream sauce with mushrooms and onions; a area of a cow's above its diaphgram to be eaten as rare as possible). Then a birthday cake and wine free from a credit
Then a birthday cake and wine free from a credit card birthday promotion, and more free cakes as a well-accepted apology for some underpar service on their part (which after this gesture has all been revoked). All except the mussels were good! The salmon tarar, particularly, was very smooth and fresh and melts in your mouth. The lobster tasted wonderful with a very fragrant white wine sauce and a very rich cream, but probably needs to be shared because otherwise would be too rich for one person to finish. The beef was so tender, again almost melted in your mouth, only that we did not dare order as raw as the dear waiter originally suggested. The onion sauce that went with it was perfect, fragrant, rich yet not covering the flavour of the meat itself.
The mussels, however, were quite a disappointment. Heard how it's supposed to be the best there, but this time for us, it was not fresh enough. The meat was rough and soggy and had a little frozen-seafood taste to it. All the others were chef's or the waiter's recommendation, except the mussels which we ordered from other's recommedation, so maybe after all the mussels were not really fresh that day.
Now, to the exemplary service. Two of them were really very vigilant and helpful - they noticed that I was glancing at the chef's recommendation board and at once, brought the board over to explain to me (while we were waiting for others to come still) what they have. Very observant. We were also quite high, as always when our bunch of very close sisters get together, and they complemented our mood very well. Other not as complementing servers could very easily destroy our mood if they though we were too rowdy. Lastly, there was unfortunatley one who kept on taking our stuff away without asking, from a chair that someone would be sitting in to food that wasn't finished yet. But he surprisingly treated us to several cakes as a gesture of his apology on his own, which we found very acceptable because after all, we did not make a fuss about it to ruin our mood, so he did that on his very initiative. What more can one ask for when he knows his own fault (and hopefully improve from there)! And when we said we wanted to appraise this on a comment, they said they could not give out their own names because they work as a team! True, they didn't even wear name tags! Novel concept, but then their team that night really deserved a big applause.
Otherwise, I would only say the prices would be quite a deterrant for a full 3 course for each person. It came out as a nice deal only because we sisters did not have a huge appetite and shared everything, and also had a 15% credit card discount.
