I always think Thai Orchids is an esteemed Thai restaurant in the Eastern District. I truly believe that a reputable restaurant should not only serve good food but also with good customer service. I always think Thai Orchids is an esteemed Thai restaurant in the Eastern District. I truly believe that a reputable restaurant should not only serve good food but also with good customer service. Otherwise, I would not be a frequent customer of this restaurant.

However, I feel extremely disappointed about my recent dining experience with my friends at this restaurant near Taikoo Place.

I went to the restaurant on Friday, 29 February 2008 at around 8:00 p.m. for my dinner with two other friends. We had our dinner for around 3 hours and left the restaurant at 11:00 p.m. After I left your restaurant, I suddenly noticed that I have left my new mobile (Sony Erisson W910i) on the dining table. I immediately called my phone no. and found that my mobile was still connected. I then rushed back to the restaurant WITHIN 5 MINUTES AFTER I left in order to get it back. UNFORTUNATELY, when I returned to the restaurant, I could not find my mobile on the table and immediately seek assistance from the waiters.

The waitress (a long hair middle-aged woman) at first replied me that she didn't realize any mobile when she was clearing the table. She then said that there were 3 waiters/waitresses responsible for the dining area and only 2 of them (including her) were around and had no idea about my mobile and at the same time we all couldn’t find the 3rd waiter/waitress. I then used the phone at the restaurant to call my phone no. again and my mobile was not connected anymore. I then further negotiated with a man (who didn’t wear uniform and appeared to be more senior and in charge of the restaurant) but no satisfying answer could be given to me. His ONLY reply to me was that he trusted the staff and tried to convince me that it was not a case of theft by his staff, with an “explanation”that there would also be other suspects as they would not clear the table immediately after the customers were left (which I think was an irresponsible reply and excuse). Despite that, NO IIMMEDIATE ACTION OR INVESTIGATION HAD BEEN TAKEN BY HIM. I left my contact number to him and he said he would call me if he got any news about my mobile. And actually, I didn't receive any phone call from the restaurant that night.


On the next day, I called the restaurant to follow up and a man called Don who claimed to be the person in charge of the Bar replied me that he was busy for lunch time and would look into the matter and revert to me after LUNCH TIME. Again, NO ONE called me until I called the restaurant again in the late afternoon. He then told me all 3 aforementioned staff were on leave that day and couldn’t reach them. He also tried to persuade me that it was my own fault when I couldn’t find back my mobile even I was very sure that I lost it at the restaurant which I dined in ONLY 5 MINUTES AGO. But he still said he would look into the matter and discuss this with the manager after I told him I strongly believed that the mobile should be stolen by the staff. Again, I was disappointed as NO ONE called me ON THAT DAY and even up till now –more than 1 MONTH AFTER THE INCIDENT.

I would like to reiterate that my DISAPPOINTMENT was mainly caused by the SILENCE of the restaurant staffmto my case and IRRESPONSIBLE reply to my request for an investigation. That mobile is important to me as it is a memorable gift from my boyfriend.

I guess the staff there are well-trained to provide exquisite dining service. But to me, reputation of a restaurant is also very important, the staff are supposed to be honest and trustworthy. I am not simply having my dinner, but also service quality at your restaurant. Though I admit that I was careless to leave the mobile on the table, I still sincerely hope that customers like we all would strongly consider the customer service and attitude before choosing this restaurant.
