We went to this place on a recommendation by a colleague, I had never heard of La Rambla before and didn't know what to expect. Of course, I have eaten Spanish food before but it can vary greatly from one restaurant to another, so I was prepared for it to be a hit or miss. Being in the IFC, the place is well decorated and clean, in addition, the view of Kowloon over the river is spectacular when you sit outside. I would say it's the perfect spot for business meetings or to treat yourself once in

I would say it's the perfect spot for business meetings or to treat yourself once in a while through the combination of the view, the vibes and the food.

So lunch is a semi-buffet; you get to choose a main course with varying prices from a selection including seafood pasta, pan-fried fish and beef cheek. The buffet bar itself is pretty decent, with the selection of cold cuts, cheeses, breads, salads etc. I will add that I wasn't expecting both steak and salmon tatare within the selection and that was a huge plus for me. Everything was fresh and full of flavour, so certainly no negative comments from me regarding the taste. The buffet was constantly refilled so there was no need to wait around for any dishes, but I doubt you would wait around anyway as you will most definitely find something else to enjoy in case someone cheekily takes the last serving.

The main dishes were well presented and the beef cheek in particular was soft and succulent; almost melting on the knife as I cut through it and served with a very creamy, rich mash. It seemed small but actually was adequate as the quality is very good and will fill you right up, especially after a  few rounds of the buffet. I would say that you don't really need the main course option, just the buffet itself will suffice for most. I chose the cheesecake for the dessert and that was really very good; smooth, the right ratio of biscuit to creamed cheese and top with a refreshing berry compote.

One slight disappointment was that after such an enjoyable meal you get served with a really sub-average coffee that doesn't do the place any justice. The lunch is not considered cheap, but I guess the view, location and quality comes at a price.

FINAL VERDICT:
A GREAT CHOICE IF YOU WANT TO TREAT YOURSELF
