The Sunday lunch buffet is a popular choice, with tables often booked out. This restaurant is hidden away inside the lower basement of the Stanford Intercontinental Hotel.

The lunch buffet offers a good choice of fresh seafood including a live oyster bar, spider crab legs, smoked salmon, cockles, crayfish and tuna carpaccio. The antipasti table has a huge variety of salads, cured meats and cheeses, all of very high standard. There is not much on offer in terms of hot food, just pizza and soups. However, as it is technically a semi-buffet, there is a hot pasta course and main course that is served to the table.

While I was well impressed by the buffet, I found the pasta and main course to be mediocre. The seafood pasta was ok, but the handmade pasta felt a bit too grainy to me. The Guinea Fowl main course was tasty, however I noticed that all of the accompanying vegetables were identical to the other main courses that my companions had ordered. For such a high-end buffet, I would have expected each dish to be more individual and unique, not like a mass-plated wedding-banquet main course where only the meat and sauce are different.

My experience was redeemed by the dessert bar, which had a decent variety of Italian-style cakes, including cannoli (delicious) and tiramisu (double delicious). There was also fresh fruit and HaagenDazs ice cream cups.

This buffet is a good way to spend a Sunday meal with family or friends. There were many families there enjoying themselves, and a large lobby area just outside of the restaurant where the kids can play when they get bored of eating. A nice venue.
