'mookcake' is no longer an exclusive item of traditional brands like maxims, kee wah and stuff. nowadays you can buy mooncakes from starbucks, HD and even mrs fields, you name it. despite that fact tht i have read abt mookcakes from tit*f(thanks to openrice.com), it was still a surprise for me to SEE the mookcake at the store.

i wanted to buy myself a bun or something for lunch-as i am on a diet, i was looking for something less fattening. then i spot the really mini mookcakes right next to the german pudding. $8 for one. i immediately handed over $8 for my lunch.

it was indeed very small, and looked nothing like a traditional mooncake you can get from maxims-as a matter of fact it looked kinda 'fusion' and was, sadly, burnt, thus was more black than golden brown. the mooncake left greasy marks on the plastic bag while i was trying to take it out for a bite. yuckkkkk.
i took a bite-it was indeed chocolicious and sweet(now who says the mooncake is low in sugar? i thgt the label right above the mooncakes was a bit misleading). the crust was what you'd find in original chinese mooncakes, and the fillings-it tasted a bit like chocolate fudge, but less moist in texture. strangely, i found half of a salted egg yolk inside. the two flavours didnt match very well.

i finished the mooncake within 4 small bites. it was kinda satisfying because it was quite 'heavy'. however, i dont think anyone will pay $8 for something as small as this. plus, people will buy mooncakes or chocolate fudges but probably NOT chocolate fudge mooncakes with salted egg yolk inside. i guess next time i should stick to the buns and the toasts.
