I'm a big fan of Seoul Bros. It is one of my favorite casual places for a quick, inexpensive bite to eat in Central. So, when I found out that they had opened another branch in Wanchai, i was pretty ecstatic.Located in Wanchai, the actual location is in a small side alleyway behind the W Building. Located in Wanchai, the actual location is in a small side alleyway behind the W Building. The entry way is next to the basketball court. The space here is larger than the Central location with more seating. However, they were severely understaffed. The poor lone woman was not only the cashier but also delivered the food, making the drinks and answering phones. Cheers to her for holding it all together! She may look frazzled but she everything was done in a timely fashion!
The menu is in English. You order at the cashier and the staff will bring the food to you when ready. It's cash only and no 10% service charge. For those not familiar with the Central branch, this place serves fast food Korean fusion that is more popularly found in Korean American food trucks.
As we had four of us, we ordered three sets and a round of chicken and waited for our meals. I noticed the following deals and was probably why this place was so popular.
The beer deal was pretty good. I saw a bunch of people doing that. But the mint lemonade (they call a seoul-ade) was what astounded me. 1 L for $25? FOR REAL? And here's the kicker. If you order a set, you can upgrade your drink to this exact same size mint lemonade for $5! The sets cost $78 each and include a choice of banh mi (chicken or beef) or beef bibimbap and snacks. For the banh mi, you get a corn salad and cheese fries. For the bibimbap, you get fried chicken. All come with a drink with an upgrade of $5 for a special drink.
This is the beef banh mi. It's a bit messy but that's how it is. The bun was pretty tasty. The beef was tender. There was a lot of kimchi. This is the chicken banh mi. I liked this one a lot more as they used fried chicken as the chicken meat. The bibimbap was beef flavor. I don't know if due to staff being super busy (she was on her own after all) but she didn't offer options to add things like cheese and nori for an additional price. Anyways, it was still pretty good even without the extras. But the extras did make it taste better so get the extras. These are the sides that came with the sets. The fried chicken chosen was spicy and it wasn't too spicy. Just enough to give it some bite but it was ok. The corn was mixed with kimichi so it was also a bit spicy as well. The other side was cheesy fries. The fries didn't have enough cheese but they were fried to a decent crispiness. We also added a regular portion of sweet and sour chicken for $48. It came with rice cakes. The chicken was tender. The rice cakes were chewy without being hard. A good portion to just eat on your own or shared with beer as I saw some people do. The Seoul-ade was huge. It was 1 L and for $25, quite a deal! But if you order it with a set, it only costs $5! It was ok as it was really just soda water with lemon soda. But I loved they packed it with so much mint. This is a shareable drink or for someone super thirsty. This was a deal. One of us wanted ice cream so ordered this. $20 for a banana milk soft serve. Portion size was pretty big. I had never tried it before as I'm not a big banana milk fan. I just hate artificial banana taste. So, I took a spoonful to taste. It really did taste like banana milk. So definitely for those that like banana milk. Love that this place is now so close to me where I live. I can see this as a regular haunt for me. Decent prices. Good size portions. Definite value for money. Kudos for the one lonely staff member who did everything front of house and doing a good job of running things smoothly despite it being super busy. Some places are so over staffed and can't even run the place smoothly. She was definitely understaffed and still kept everyone happy.
