Through one of my friend's recommendation who loved Japanese food, we planned to go to this restaurant for dinner tonight. Akoya was located at Prat Avenue, few minutes walk from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR.Once we entered the restaurant, the lighting was soothing and the layout was spacious, good enough for chit-chatting. Once we entered the restaurant, the lighting was soothing and the layout was spacious, good enough for chit-chatting.
They served a wide range of Japanese dishes such as snacks, sashimi, skewer, rice or udon and drinks etc. The restaurant manager told us that their sashimi and meat were imported from Japan daily, ensuring the freshness of the food served.
Baked egg with spicy cod roe - The appearance of the egg was light yellow in color and smooth-looking. When we cut open, cod roe came flowing out. Egg was baked till very soft and smooth, sweet in taste. Cod roe was slightly spicy and flavourful, complimenting nicely with the egg.
Gingko nuts skewer was very chewy and smooth, not too tough. Green pepper was juicy and soft, slightly spicy and appetizing.
Eggplant was grilled till juicy and very soft, with some flakes placed on top of it to go along with it.
Australian ox tongue was grilled till tender and juicy, chewy as well, with the lemon provided at the side enhancing the taste of the beef.
Deep fried oyster with sea urchin sauce - Added sea urchin sauce onto the oyster, it made it very flavourful and sweet in taste. The texture of the fried oyster was slightly sticky and juicy, smooth as well.
Deluxe sashimi platter - It was presented exquisitely and looked appealing and colourful. It consisted of fatty tuna, medium fatty tuna, boten shrimp, striped jack, snapper, flounder and wagyu beef sashimi. Fatty and medium fatty tuna were fat and smooth, oily in texture. Shrimp was juicy and sweet in taste and wagyu beef was very tender and soft, melting in my mouth. Striped jack, snapper and flounder were very chewy and smooth, able to taste their freshness.
Chicken meat udon noodles in chicken soup - Chicken soup was clear and tasty, absorbing the essence of the chicken soup broth. Udon was very chewy and smooth, and the lava egg was soft and smooth as well. Sliced chicken meat was chewy and smooth too.
Calpis soda was gassy and refreshing, sweet in taste and milky. Umeshu was easy to drink and clear, sweet in taste, going well with those food ordered.
