Shelter is a restaurant I haven't really been to. It opened a while ago in Hysan Place but since the entire restaurant is located outside, I didn't want to  go when it was hot and humid. And that is 90% of the time in Hong Kong. Or if it was raining. After a while, I shelved it away and completely forgot about this place. Until one day I was thinking where to have lunch before work when I thought ... I should give it  try. The weather wasn't too hot nor too cold. It was dry out. Why not?Entering

Entering the restaurant, it really is outside. Just as people said. Not one part of it is indoors. I think due to this, the restaurant was not that full on a busy lunch hour.

I didn't want the express lunch set so I went with the four course for $198 which included a soup or salad, main, dessert and drink.

I chose the soup which was minestrone. It was a lot thicker than other minestrone soups I've had. It was more like a tomato soup with chunks of vegetables in it. It was fine though. The croutons were still crunchy.

They gave me one slice of bread in the bread basket. A slice of whole wheat bread. Slightly cold.

I chose the baby back ribs served with mixed salad and tortilla chips. I do not understand the tortilla chips. Was this their idea of American? Isn't this an Italian restaurant? Whatever. The ribs were good however the part near the bone was a bit undercooked. There was a small dish of BBQ sauce for dipping in but I felt the ribs had enough sauce so wasn't needed. The salad, on the other hand, was so salty. It seemed they just drenched the poor leaves in salt.

The dessert was a chocolate bread pudding with a creme anglaise to pour on top of it. Not too sweet and a nice warm comforting end to the meal.

Lunch was fine. Not spectacular. Seating, however, was horribly uncomfortable.  The table legs were situate in a strange circular fashion that gave no ample space to place your legs. It made seating very uncomfortable.  Service was fine though. Would I be back? Probably not as seating was too uncomfortable for the price I paid  for lunch.
