Thanks to Regal Hotel, I recently got a coupon from their lucky draw and hence decided to give this restaurant a try before my trip overseas (in fact I have also tried their Shatin counterpart, although I was not too impressed at that time).When we arrived (4 of us in total) at around 7:30pm, the place was still quite empty and we were the only customers. The ambience is nice and the place is nicely decorated in traditional chinese style - suitable to impress foreigners as well as locals.We star
When we arrived (4 of us in total) at around 7:30pm, the place was still quite empty and we were the only customers. The ambience is nice and the place is nicely decorated in traditional chinese style - suitable to impress foreigners as well as locals.
We started off with the wonton chicken soup which was very nice, with large pieces of chinese ham and chunks of chicken in it - there was enough for each one of us to have a two bowls. And we finished that without any difficulty at all.
Next came the 黄金抄飯, again nicely done with a generous help of egg yolk in the rice. Best thing was that the dish was not oily at all. Simple but delicious !
We also ordered the Dan Dan noodles which was ok. I would have enjoyed the noodles even more if it was more hot and spicy, but overall it is more than acceptable.
The highlight of the meal would definitely be the 圓蹄, which was very tender and almost melt in the mouth ! Would definitely be a great dish to go with a bowl of rice. The portion was huge and we ended up finishing only 2/3 of the dish.
Service was nice and attentive. Only problem was the price - although that was not the primary concern for us on that particular night with the complimentary $200 coupon. And considering the quality of the food and the environment, I don't think the price is unreasonable at all. Highly recommended.
