We have been to the Diamond Hill branch of Xiao Wang and were expecting good things to come to us at this one. We left disappointed.As it was lunchtme, we waited for about ten minutes to get a seat. As it was lunchtme, we waited for about ten minutes to get a seat. We were seated and then ordered quickly. My wife had the beef noodle soup with brisket, thick noodles and pickle, whereas I opted for the same, but with tendon instead of brisket. We also ordered some beef buns.
The buns came and were very disappointing. They were super doughy and thick with a strange texture and not enough liquid inside with the meat filling. They were much better at the other branch.
My wife's issue was that the brisket was strangely red coloured and had a tough texture. I ended up eating her beef and while it was OK for me, it needed to be much more tender - not cooked long enough perhaps?
My tendon was OK. It was chopped a bit roughly and was quite ragged. It was still pretty good, but there could have been more of it.
We also ordered brown sugar ginger tea, which was great.
The service was fine considering that it was rush hour, but we would definitely give this branch a miss in the future.
