Decided to try the cakes at this shop after reading the awesome reviews on OpenRice.Tried the mango napoleon and the chocolate cake; HKD45 per piece.Whilst the cream in the napoleon was OK (but not fabulous), the chocolate cake was quite a flop in my opinion.Hardly any chocolatey taste and the presentation was also very poor for the price paid.Severe lack of 'class' in the presentation as compared to the likes of pastries/cakes from Robuchon or Mandarin Oriental, and all for the same price as th
Tried the mango napoleon and the chocolate cake; HKD45 per piece.
Whilst the cream in the napoleon was OK (but not fabulous), the chocolate cake was quite a flop in my opinion.
Hardly any chocolatey taste and the presentation was also very poor for the price paid.
Severe lack of 'class' in the presentation as compared to the likes of pastries/cakes from Robuchon or Mandarin Oriental, and all for the same price as the latter two cafes.
The service was also subpar; when I asked for recommendations, the staff manning the counter were hesitant and less interested in saying much until I insisted of which they mentioned the mango napoleon.
The shop also generally does not give out a bag (at least not with me when I was there) and I had to ask for it !
Find it silly as I would not carry a box of cakes without a bag; what if the box breaks open etc. especially in crowded Hong Kong ?!
Note too that the shop only accepts cash as payment.
In a nutshell, I do not recommend this shop on the basis of its price and quality and service of its staff.
For that price level, I have other better choices in Hong Kong.
