Nothing special is the best way to describe this Korean restaurant.Whilst offering a wide selection of Korean food, it somehow lacks in depth of taste. Yes, it tastes 'fine' but that is really the only word that I could use to describe it.Slightly oily - the side dishes have too much sesame oil on them which detracts from the flavour. The kimchi is not bad but I have had better. The soup, calbi tang, had nice bits of meat in it which was good but unless you ask for it to ne taken out, you;ll find
Whilst offering a wide selection of Korean food, it somehow lacks in depth of taste. Yes, it tastes 'fine' but that is really the only word that I could use to describe it.
Slightly oily - the side dishes have too much sesame oil on them which detracts from the flavour. The kimchi is not bad but I have had better.
The soup, calbi tang, had nice bits of meat in it which was good but unless you ask for it to ne taken out, you;ll find that you get a huge amount of radish, or 'mu', in your soup which again, doesn't do the soup any favours.
Sundubujigae, or spicy tofu soup, is also lacking in depth of flavour and is again quite oily.
The bibimbab, mixed vegetables with rice, wasn't bad but again had had too much oil inflicted on it which isn't what the dish is about.
Good Korean food is hard to find in Hong Kong but this certainly isn't the worst one. If you want to try Korean food, then pay Myung Ga a visit but don't base all your future experiences on this one restaurant. It will give you an insight into Korean food, but won't in any way give you an authentic experience of what is actually great food.
Great views of the harbour though and if you get there before 12, it offers a good view of the midday gun.
