I came here to try the famed hambabao and walked out feeling disappointed. The one at Si Sun in Hong Hum is so good - this means that the benchmark is pretty high as far as I am concerned.  I came here to try their version.  The price was the same as at SS - $13, but the value is not as good.  Here you get only one patty, a slice of cheese and no egg.  I am sure I could have got them as extras, but for more money.  Anyway, the lady was very helpful and they smilingly took my order and chatted to

Anyway, the lady was very helpful and they smilingly took my order and chatted to me.  I was surprised at how quickly it came to me.  It was on the table before I knew it.  Biting in, the first sensation was a luke warm grainy patty made more of rusk than meat.  It was as if they just reheated it (I suspect this was the case), as the outside was hot, but the inside cold, though cooked.  The patty was not good.  It had a lot of gristle.  While the bun and chese were fine, the star was off.

If you want HK style hambabaos, go to Si Sun Fast Food in Hong Hum- great value with two patties, cheese, egg and special sauce for $13.  Don't bother with Lucky.
