We came on a Friday night and there were tables (we hadn’t made a reservation). The location is great in a cute alleyway and the ambience was lively and unpretentious. We came on a Friday night and there were tables (we hadn’t made a reservation). The location is great in a cute alleyway and the ambience was lively and unpretentious.

The service was a bit slow, our drinks took 15 mins to arrive and the starter almost 30. The waiter gave us some attitude when we pointed this out but did bring our starter pronto and the rest of the food came promptly.

Our cold cuts and cheeses starter was very nice, as was the wine. The boeuf Bourguignon was very good, as was the duck confit burger - but the accompanying fries were way too salty. The dessert was chocolate fondant with caramel ice cream - the ice cream was great, the fondant good but the shell used a bit too much egg so was not soft as I had hoped. Still, a nice dessert.

Overall, the food was nice, with generous portions, a lovely home cooked feel and not wildly overpriced (we spent about 800 for one sharing starter, two mains, a dessert, two glasses of wine and a bottle of water). The menu could have been a bit more extensive but I guess they just try and do a few good dishes well. The service could have been more prompt and I was unimpressed but the attitude - guys, you are not in France and you cannot be rude to customers. But overall, a nice evening.
