Helmed by former chef from Samsen, the newly opened Thai Pai Dong located at Ferry Point in Jordan serving authentic Thai street food became an instant sensation. Shop opened at 6pm, arriving around 6:10 pm and there was already a queue of about 40 diners waiting to be seated. The menu is compact, with a variety of stir-fries, grilled skewers, and salads to choose from. Did my share of research and decided to try their Spicy Wagyu Beef Flat Noodles and Crab Meat Omelette. The Spicy Wagyu Beef Flat Noodles was wok hei packed. Seasoning was balance with a mild kick from the fresh peppercorn. Wagyu beef was tender and flavourful. A dish that I would recommend ordering.

Crab Meat Omelette was a bit of a letdown. I expected the egg encasing the crab meat to be light, fluffy and golden. But I guess the temperature of the oil was too high that the egg colour turned tawny and oily to the bite. The amount of stuffings was generous, but you know immediately that it was not meat shredded from freshly cooked crabs. I would rate this crab meat omelette a C.

Overall, Thai Pai Dong is a decent Thai casual eatery but one would have expected more from a kitchen that is helmed by a Samsen alumni. Recommend giving it a try after the hype dies down with shorter queue.
