I went to Motu Kiwi for dinner out of curiosity and because I lived in New Zealand for a number of years. The décor was rough and ready, I’m not sure if they are trying to go for the basic look, but metal tableware looks like what you would buy from Salvation Army.Apart from the metal kiwi made out of spoons and folks, there is nothing really that screams New Zealand. For starters I had the Tua Tua Sliders for $98.I got two bite size burgers with the clam patty. I went to Motu Kiwi for dinner out of curiosity and because I lived in New Zealand for a number of years.

The décor was rough and ready, I’m not sure if they are trying to go for the basic look, but metal tableware looks like what you would buy from Salvation Army.
Apart from the metal kiwi made out of spoons and folks, there is nothing really that screams New Zealand.

For starters I had the Tua Tua Sliders for $98.I got two bite size burgers with the clam patty. This was tasty and you wish it was bigger by the time you finish the burger in two mouthfuls.
My main was Manuka smoked north island lam ribs with mango chutney and coconut rice for $138. I got 4 skinny slices of lamb with more fat than meat on each. The coconut rice was overdone and the rice was crunchy to the point some were burnt.

To sum it up –
The atmosphere was pleasant,
The waitress was friendly,
Food was mediocre, nothing special worth going back for.
The portion was small
Central prices

All in all, ok for a once off, but won’t go back again.
