譚仔三哥 TamJai SamGor is a place many people have eaten at. However, when the weather gets colder I get a craving for it. It was extremely busy with lots of people waiting for take away. The place is two floors so plenty of seating. The decor looked different, more modern. Apparently this shop under went a renovation with a look that is familiar with the rest of newer shops. On one wall they had a photo of the original shop. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. Along wit
Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. Along with their usual menu, they had a time limite one. We decided to order a few items from there.
Ice cold drinks is the perfect compliment to hot spicy soup. I tried the time limited drink of Passion Fruit Oolong Tea ($11 with a noodle, on the right). Boyfriend had the Grape Oolong Tea ($11 with a noodle, on the left). The drinks were the right amount of sweetness.
Grilled Eggplant with Garlic ($16) is a new appetizer. Or at least an upgraded version of the eggplant and garlic they usually serve. This one is much better as the garlic was crispy as it was toasted. It made it much more fragrant. The hot chili sauce was layered on top so the eggplant can soak it up well.
Tufei Chicken Wings ($22 for 3) is what we always order. Why? I guess it's their mix of spices that give that numbing effect on your tongue combined with juicy meat on the wings.
Boyfriend decided to try the new limited noodle item: Fish Maw and Pepper Chicken Mixian ($48) in Wu La Soup and added cuttlefish balls for $6. The soup is their usual clear broth with a fragrant spicy kick. There was lots of fish maw! The chicken was well seasoned and the meat was tender. The cuttlefish balls were firm and bouncy.
I usually like to create my own noodle so ordered the mixian with minced pork, fish bean curd, bamboo fungus and fish fillet in tomato soup ($59 in total). You can choose the level of spiciness or not spicy at all. Personally, I love their tomato soup and order it a lot. The best is they add an extra scoop of softened tomato on top. A while ago they had a limited item with fish fillet and I thought it was great. Apparently, now they have added this as their regular choices along with pig stomach. I like this new option as I can see this being my regular topping choice.
The minced pork was delicious. Boyfriend tends to scoop it into his noodles. I tend to just eat it by the spoonful.
