This restaurant has been famous for their piri piri chicken for years. Tonight I spent my mid week celebration meal with my dear friend, who has been a chicken lover and also been asking to try this restaurant for long.

Before visiting this restaurant we kind of worried the whole dining experience would be stuffy and hot as it is an outdoor seating restaurant. Upon arrival, restaurant was pretty thoughtful to have their air conditioning coolers and fans on and even allowed us to pick our own seats.

We ordered roasted pumpkin, beetroot & feta cheese salad, loaded nachos and 1/2 piri piri chicken & fries. For drinks, we requested a glass of Chardonnay and a can of coke.

Salad looked appetising and fresh. Greenery with purple beets and orange pumpkins. Sauce were thoughtfully served on a side. Endives and butter lettuce were offered in big pieces which kind of messy to be eaten. Beets were crunchy and juicy. Sweetness were coming from the roasted pumpkin. Pumpkin were cooked perfectly. Soft and velvety still managed to keep its shape. It would be nicer if they could offer feta cheese generously as there were only three cubes. Sauce was tangy and smooth, unlike vinaigrette that is oil based. Good to tie up all the flavours in the salad.

Nachos was a surprise. Unlike the typical Mexican one serving with guacamole and sour cream, they drizzled with their piri piri secret sauce. Staff warmly reminded that the plate was incredibly hot that avoid touching it. Nachos was loaded with homemade salsa, minced and melted cheese. Their secret sauce was the star of the dish. Smoky and hot while combining the melted cheese/ the crispy cheese edge, fresh salsa and the meaty savoury minced, it was indulgent and every bite was an explosion of flavour. And another big thumb up to their quality of tortilla chips. It's one of the very few nachos I would also make a compliment of their simple base, tortilla chips. Not only crispy and well seasoned but you could taste the corn flavour which smartly brought extra flavour to the whole dish. A common but unusual dish.

Moving on to their signature. Piri piri chicken was cooked to perfection. When you cut from the skin to the meat, you could sense there were two different textures. First crispy skin then the moist soft meat. You could easily de-bone the whole chicken that could explain how they mastered the cooking time. Skin was crispy but kept attaching with the meat. Even the meat itself could taste their seasoning. Well seasoned but not overly salted. Serving with their piri piri secret sauce, it gave extra smokiness and a hint of kick on an aftertaste. Again, superb to have a sauce that gave you two senses.
The side fries were consumed after finishing the nachos. Without a disappointment, none of the fries became soggy or cold. Kept its crunch and love they kept the potato skin on. Well seasoned that tasted similar to cajun fries. Absolutely loving it.

Funny that after having two appetisers and a main, we both still wanted more. Staff recommended their butter garlic shrimp which is apparently also their signature.
Never have I ever thought they would serve that many shrimps while each shrimps were comparably big. Appreciated they cleaned each shrimp nicely. Shrimps were cooked to perfection. Each shrimp was well coated with garlic and parsley. Fresh and moist. Even it's cooked with butter, you wouldn't find it greasy at all. Well done and finally we were full.

It was a satisfying feast to celebrate mid week. Highly recommend especially booking their 40% off deal from Open rice.
