I purchased a groupon for the lunch buffet after reading the good comments on Openrice. The restaurant is located in an old commercial building just off the Central escalator. The front entrance and lift lobby of the building was not the most welcoming, but once I got inside the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised by the homely and cozy atmosphere. While waiting for my companions I got to watch some bollywood videos on the TV screen, which made me feel like being outside HK for awhile! Time to check out the buffet table! The buffet area was small, but there was quite an extensive selection of items - soup, appetiters, salads, curries, rice, dessert, etc. To try everything you need about 3-4 rounds! I did try most items and they were mostly very good, especially the curries and lentils which were full of rich flavours and not too spicy. If I were to be picky I did find the tandoori chicken on the dry/ tough side, and fried fish and egg not very fresh. The naan breads were made to order and you can choose from various flavours. We tried the plain and garlic gaans, which were both good. I would recommend the garlic gaan which was soft and aromatic without being oily. The buffet lunch came with one drink. I had the masala tea which was really smooth with just a hint of spice. Also tried a bit of my companion's strawberry lassi, which had a good balance of sweetness and sourness. Overall it was quite a satisfying lunch - will definitely come back!
Other Info. :
The usual price for the lunch buffet is $75+10%, which is still good value.
