Shells in Pad Thai

I visited this Thai restaurant for dinner and ordered a Pad Thai. The dish came steaming hot and freshly prepared. The taste was good but the small pieces of what seems to be egg or seafood shells in the dish was somewhat of a let down. Even more disappointing was the staff’s insistence that these were peanuts, when it was clearly to the staff that the peanut was still on the side and not mixed in with the rest of the dish. I visited this Thai restaurant for dinner and ordered a Pad Thai. The dish came steaming hot and freshly prepared. The taste was good but the small pieces of what seems to be egg or seafood shells in the dish was somewhat of a let down. Even more disappointing was the staff’s insistence that these were peanuts, when it was clearly to the staff that the peanut was still on the side and not mixed in with the rest of the dish. They also appeared to question my ability to tell peanuts from shells, even after showing them these foreign objects in the dish. They did agree to cook a new dish for me, and it was fine the second time around. In terms of service, I wish the staff had simply acknowledged their mistake. Hopefully the kitchen will be more careful going forward.
