️⃣Appetizers – The beancurd roll was thicker than average; the fried capelin was not crunchy enough; the beef shank was very tough and the eggplant was tasteless. There were also drunken chicken and shrimp. The taste and the texture of the meat themselves were fine but there was no wine taste. The other items were up to standard.

️⃣Side Dishes – In terms of carbs, there were stir fried rice cake, rice and spicy shredded potato; for meat, there were salt and pepper pork ribs, sweet and sour fish fillet, braised pork belly and poached sliced beef in hot chili oil; there were also a few vegetarian dishes as well. Again, they were mostly up to standard with fried food not being crunchy enough. The braised pork belly was fantastic though!
️⃣Peking Duck – The cook was not good at slicing the duck. It was supposed to be a crispy duck skin with a thin layer of meat but it ended up with the meat being too thick. Luckily, the duck tasted fine but it was a bit oily. The pancake, the leek and the cucumber were fine. I was surprised to have shredded cantaloupe and the sweet taste actually matched with the dish.

️⃣Freshly Steamed/Fried Dim Sum – While the above mentioned were served outside, there were 6 kinds of dim sum which you could order. I don’t recommend fried bun and spring roll as they were dry and not crunchy. Xiaolongbao was good with thin skin and juicy meat filling.

️⃣Freshly Fried Desserts – Other than the dim sum, there were 4 kinds of desserts which you could also order. Beijing desserts were usually made of red bean (which I don’t like) so I just tried the soufflé egg white ball with mashed red bean. The red bean was soft but not rich enough. The egg white ball was not crunchy enough also.

️⃣Chicken Soup with Fish Maw (1 bowl per person) – The fish maw was neither thick nor smooth and the soup was not rich.

️⃣Abalone and Shiitake (1 plate per person) – The texture of both was good, i.e. soft yet still a bit chewy, but the taste was not rich provided that the ingredients were not in high quality.

There were self-served soft drinks, sugar cane and imperatae drink and sweetened soya milk. All tasted fine and not over sweetened. There were osmanthus flower jelly, and glutinous rice balls served in sweet osmanthus soup or ginger soup. The sweet osmanthus soup tasted nothing and the ginger soup was good. Overall speaking, the quality and the diversity of food matched with the price, with fried or wine-made food below average.
