SMOKO is a newly opened cozy coffee shop in Fortress Hill, just 3 mins walk from MTR station, offering tailor made coffee and drinks, as well as some gourmet freshly made croissants. The sky is the limit, there are actually a lot of off menu items available, all you have to do is to ask. What is SMOKO?It is actually a slang from Australia. What is SMOKO?
It is actually a slang from Australia. Having lived in Australia for two years for working holiday, Chuk Wing, the owner, has learned a lot of Australian culture and of course the word 'SMOKO'. The Australian lay back living style has promoted a "smoking + coffee" break every now and then, which is called SMOKO in short.
Embracing five years experience as a barista, Chuk Wing would like to offer customers a moment of break time in this busy city, she does care about everything in details and she chats with you to understand your needs and desire. She spreads her love with her heartwarming drinks and food, which really moved us. Chuk Wing
Grapefruit Lemon Tea ($26)
This is regular size which is 16 oz. Chuk Wing uses a mix of red tea and another in-season tea. Currently, jasmine tea is the highlight. The sweetness in this drink is just right, the tea flavour came out just nicely complementing with the fruity and citric from the grapefruit and lemon. It was really a refreshing drink for this summer.

This drink is made based on your colour of the day, while the flavour of the drink differs every time based on.... Chuk Wing's mood really.... Hkblogger's flavourite colour is of course yellow. Can you guess what flavour is this? You will have to guess it yourself or ask Chuk Wing what secret ingredient she has put, and this one was one of our favourite summer fruit - passion fruit!

SMOKO coffee beans are sourced from various places in Hong Kong and Chuk Wing is the on who mix the beans to her linking. Tap Coffee is actually cold brew coffee which is coffee powder being soaked for 12 - 16 hours. We like this zero calorie black coffee drink so much because the fresh cucumber syrup neutralised the bitterness from the coffee. The cucumber taste was subtle yet gave you an interesting aftertaste. The foam is created by gas nitrogen along with a secret gas that the master chef isn't willing to disclose. The unique drink gives you a feel of beer with the smooth bubble within the drink and the "coffee head' foam on the top. You may choose your favourite cup sleeves to step further to personalise your drink. Sometimes, there even will be limited editions available! Are you a collector? Or maybe simply a coffee lover? Anyway, they do look cute and creative. It's not only about drinks but you may also enjoy a really nice breakfast/tea/lunch set with a cup of coffee and a croissant for only $55.
There are two types of croissants available and we greedy hkblogger of course had to try both of them!
Apple Tuna & Egg Croissant - the food at SMOKO cares about the texture as well as the fresh ingredient, therefore, some diced crispy apples were added into the tuna and egg salad, bottomed with another few slices of fresh cucumber. Who doesn't like crispiness and how can we not like it!?
Crabmeat Avocado Croissant - hkblogger is a big fan of crab roes because of its popping effect. We also love avocado so much because it is super health and is a good source to fuel up your body. The combination of popping toppings with soft and buttery avocado at the bottom was just amazing. We couldn't help ourselves from taking another big mouthful.
p.s. there will be more and more food items coming soon in the near future To be honest, we are really happy that we have visited SMOKO. We love to see passionate young people being enthusiastic and put full effort of what they love to do. Chuk Wing really cares for her customers and always tries to make a perfect cup of homemade drink for anyone comes in.
By peeking from the hole in the wall, we found a poster saying "Life Begins After Coffee". We absolutely agreed and we really couldn't live better without good coffee. We are longing to see more small shops in Hong Kong chasing for their dream by their excellent service and food.
