Came here on a weekday and there was only myself and one other guy eating there. Bengal Brothers is a casual, self service/takeaway restaurant, so while there are tables and stools available for you to eat there if you wish, it's probably not the most comfortable place for long meals and catch ups with friends. You order and pay using the machine near the kitchen. I knew that Bengal Brothers was famous for their kati rolls, but I was craving for some rice that day and ended up ordering the Tamil
You order and pay using the machine near the kitchen. I knew that Bengal Brothers was famous for their kati rolls, but I was craving for some rice that day and ended up ordering the Tamil Pepper Beef Rice Bowl ($118) and a Mango Lassi ($55). The total came to $173. Let that sink in - $173! For a self service meal! With bare minimum furniture and air conditioning! You have plenty of other better options for $173!!!
Ok to be fair - the food was excellent. Rice was fragrant, beef was tender and well seasoned, and I enjoyed the cucumber and peanut salad that came with it. The mango lassi, however, was a bit too thick for me - it felt like I was drinking literal yogurt. I asked my Indian friend about this and she said it's normal for lassis to have varying consistencies, just depends on preference. Today I learned!
Yes, the food is good. But man, the price! For this reason, I won't be back. Once is enough. Would be interesting to find out the monthly incomes and jobs of people who eat here regularly.
