2 counters- one at either side of the restaurant. One counter served tempura. The opposite counter, facing the window served assorted sashimi and tempura; headed by chef Ricky. The shorter end of this L-shaped counter could be partitioned off into a private room. Dinner. Our host was insistent to be served raw fish by Chef Ricky; whilst Brother was insistent in trying as many tempura dishes as possible. So we Ate. A. Lot. -急流明石鯛- very Q彈
-象拔蚌from Hokkaido
-Charcoal grilled kinki 一夜干
-針魚 (big fish weighing 120g)
-Wild Hoikkado scallops in butter
-Sardine
-響螺- very sweet
-liver wrapped in 剝皮魚
-烏魚子
-Grilled long crab legs
-鮟鱇魚乾 topped with fermented mini watermelon from Nara
-鱈魚白子粥: very yummy
-石鯛魚
-Hoikkado 户井Toro
-烏賊
-Grilled 雞泡魚白子. Texture was like marshmallow
-池魚
-北寄貝 skewer
-松葉蟹
-Uni
-Shrimp
-Toro roll with fried toro skin and onions. Very crispy and unique indeed.
-小尊 creamy soup
As for tempura- was definitely one of the best I’ve tried. Chef used Japanese sesame oil- very light and fresh. We had:
-king crab
-沙錐魚 (kisu)
-oyster
-Shirako
-賴尿蝦、蠶豆
-Abalone 、persimmon
Dessert: fruits and sesame IceCream
In summary: good nite out. Lively atmosphere as everyone sitting at the counter was sake lovers. We ended up swapping bottles to try. Food was good. Brother was already planning his dinner at the tempura counter.
