I was so looking forward to this meal at this newly opened izakaya Censu! I guess most foodies should know Censu is created by the former chef from Fukuro, and I’m a fan of fukuro too, so I was thrilled to try this out, and it did not disappoint! We ordered almost everything on the menu, everything was incredibly good! What we ordered: Oysters, hamachi with ponzu sauce, chutoro tuna, pain perdu, zucchini flower tempura, karaage, chicken wings stuffed with wagyu pork mince, hamachi Kama, unigiri,
We ordered almost everything on the menu, everything was incredibly good!
What we ordered:
Oysters, hamachi with ponzu sauce, chutoro tuna, pain perdu, zucchini flower tempura, karaage, chicken wings stuffed with wagyu pork mince, hamachi Kama, unigiri, and crab meat udon. We have also ordered both desserts.
Honestly i think is quite difficult to decide which one is the best, but I think the most impressive ones would be the zucchini flower, uni pain perdu and unigiri, we had to encore for the unigiri 😂 it was made up of abalone dash and uni, the rice ball itself taste so so good too, everything just went perfectly well together.
The pain perdu is $148 each for a tiny small bite, but it definitely gives u joy on your palate. Buttery french toast topped with uni… amazing..
the zucchini flower is such an unique dish too, it was stuffed with scallop prawn mousse, and it came with truffle purée, first time trying sth like this, so special and memorable.
The staff also recommended hamachi Kama from the grill section for us, I honestly didn’t expect too much from it as I think grilled fish is usually a bit dry to me, and how special can it be right? But it proves I was totally wrong, this grilled hamachi was super duper tender, it was cooked perfectly, surprisingly delicious, especially when it came with bonito apple ponzu.
I also wanna try the wagyu sando and unagi paella, but sold out by the time I got there 🥲 (8pm)
They said we have to come by 6pm for wagyu sando, ok, I will come again for sure.
They do accept reservations for groups of 4ppl and up, others have to walk in.. so better grab some fds and make a reservation.
Overall, it’s slightly more expensive than fukuro, But I think totally worth it, everything is absolutely amazing, one of my best meals lately.
$9xx pp without alcohol, no license yet, so is BYOB
