Walked into the restaurant tonight as Jaspas was fully booked. Thinking I could have a decent piece of steak. Perhaps I was not well dressed enough, or perhaps, the waiters are just too busy. The restaurant was quite full and I believe the waiters were quite busy. The restaurant was quite full and I believe the waiters were quite busy. When I signaled the waitress to place the order, out of the blue, a manager looking gentleman came to take our order.
We asked if the Wagyu round or the Wagyu Flat Iron would be more tender, then he told us "Wagyu is very tender because it's got a lot of fat in it". Then I said ok, then the Flat iron would be more tender, he said sure. So I ordered the Wagyu Round as we'd like something with more texture. We ordered Medium Rare. Then the gentlemen left without asking what kind of sause we'd like. Then I thought, maybe they will come in a tray like Intercontinental steak house would.
We ordered
grilled ceasar salad
ribeye steak 12 oz
wagyu round 10 oz
mash potatoes
Thinking that the steak is already quite large, my boyfriend and I split our salad. Though the presentation looks a bit.. weird, but it actually tasted very good with the candied bacon.
Finally the steak came, it has a medium well stick in it and it's got the steaksauce with it. The steak, especially the So called Wagyu round, looked more like the bark of a tree than a usually piece of fatty wagyu should look like. and it tasted like it was CARDBOARD (well done) with serious crusts over 1/3 of the steak. I didn't want to get a replacement coz I didn't want them to waste the steak / or it might turn out to be worse. I was so completely dissapointed and thought I should have gone to citysuper to get a better cut and cook it myself! I'm sure it will be a bit juicier.
After we were done, I asked the manager if we actually get to choose the kind of sauce, and he told me yes, then I said how come the gentlement didn't let me know? also I ordered medium rare and it turned out to be cardboard looking. His answer was not very amusing. he told me the person who took my order was a manager of the same group but a different restaurant. and that he is the actual manager of craftsteak and he apologizes for the inconvenience....
Haha!! So.. Managers can actually run around taking orders for customers from different restaurants, not knowing what's in the menu and so on.
I am absolutely dissapointed and will not go to CRAFTSTEAK ever again!
