To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

I went with a couple of friends to Yuan Shan Vegetarian for lunch. We ordered two set lunches and a vegeterian salty fish with chicken cubes fried rice from the ala carte menu. The food was yummy! And reasonably priced with portions large enough to share. After lunch, as we were leaving, we discovered Yuan Shan was giving out complimentary meals to senior citizens. I was so happy to see them giving back to the people in the neighborhood. What a big plus to have discovered that along with a deli

And reasonably priced with portions large enough to share. After lunch, as we were leaving, we discovered Yuan Shan was giving out complimentary meals to senior citizens. I was so happy to see them giving back to the people in the neighborhood. What a big plus to have discovered that along with a delicious lunch!

As an avid volunteer with various charity organizations like the Holy Café and Food Angel, I was so moved to see more and more smaller restaurants participating in helping those in need with kind acts of charity. I recently watched a sad news report on an 80 year old granny who hung out at a HK shopping center’s food hall just so she can take the left over scraps from dirty tables to feed herself. Sigh...

I'm truly grateful for any organizations or individuals who give a helping hand to the underprivileged. Thank You 圓善素食! 功德無量！ 🙏🙏🙏
