NOTE: CASH ONLY.

Family dinner on Sunday is a good chance to try out new places. This week it was my turn to pick a place so I ignored the carnivores and chose this vegetarian place.

Environment:
OK. Homier than most chinese restaurants I would have to say - not good for treating guests. But with family it's OK. Quite chill.

Service:
Not too bad. The dishes were served up real quickly.

Food:
 Vegetarian "Bbq pork"

Of course it's MOCK Bbq pork. Yes I know it looks like the real deal but it's not. It's fried gluten with amazing sauce. Anyway, this tasted quite good (you -almost- couldn't tell). Texture was unexpectedly firm. It had all the grilled and caramelized bits and pieces which are imho the best part of BBQ pork hehee. Oily though, as with most imitation vegetarian dishes. Dad devoured most of it.

I think I enjoyed this dish.

No. I didn't enjoy this dish - mainly because my helper at home makes a better lotus patty. This one was too large, too pasty (lots of flour in the middle I would think), flavorless (I had to drench it in vinegar which came with it). Although it was deep fried, it was not crisp, and the interior was extremely oily. Extremely. I prefer a lotus patty that is flatter, crisper on the outside, and with more crunch in the middle.

Veg in broth - kai lan

Really nice, this one. The veg was fresh, sweet and the stalks (essence of kai lan) were tender. It was cooked with lily bulb and goji berries which supposedly are quite good for you. I think I finished half of this dish.

Nice hot bowl of healthy rice to go with the bbq pork mm. Nothin too special here - but somehow you feel healthier after eating it hah.

This was a delightful end to dinner. The bun was soft, very soft, fragrant, steaming hot, and enticingly green. I mean have you ever seen a bun that green!

And the pandan paste inside? DELISH. It was moderately sweet, piping hot, and very pandan. For pandan lovers - this is a must-try.

Again, a winner. Some cashew pastes can be really watery and too sweet. This one hit the right spot in every aspect. It was freshly ground, hot, deliciously thick and fragrant. Most importantly - it was natural, and wasn't sweetened to a point beyond recognition. Recommended!! Better than those you get at chinese dessert soup chainstores...

Conclusion:
Probably won't return for some time because it is quite out of the way, and dad is bound to complain. But, please come for lunch (they have pretty economical lunch sets) and the dessert. Mmm.
