Well Well Well... This has been the best surprise of my time in Hong Kong, and thanks to my friend inviting me to their daughters birthday in the "Enchanted Garden" in DisneyLand Hotel, she turn 3, and of course she was in heaven with Mickey Mouse coming around the table, Daisy, Pluto and all the others, I am not sure she ate a lot though as she was so busy going around all the tables with all the guests and Stars of DisneyLand hotel, and what a shame because what a buffet... I was expecting nothing much, you know it is a Disney Land hotel, and honestly I have been in some other Disney Land Park and they are much better than in Hong Kong and the food is not great but who cares you go there for the fun and rides, so what could I expect in Hong Kong? well, my apology to the team over there to underestimate the wonderful work done by the F&B Team.
Yes, I say the F&B team, because this is an overall goal. The service is precise, clean, sharp, present without being overly done. If you need something they right here for you but not to the point of being part of your event... Amazing work is done behind the public area of the hotel to achieve such a level, two thumbs up to whoever is leading this team.
And yes the food was great, everyone can always find a fault here and there. It is easy to look for it, but today I am not going to do that. Today is the time to give the culinary team, the chefs, the commis, the chef de partie, and of course most of all the excellent executive chef all my sincere congratulations and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for achieving that level in Hong Kong.
So let me try to describe the buffet in a way that will make you want to go there, because I can assure you if you go to any other 5 stars hotels in town you will pay probably more and you will not get that kind of food and definitely not that kind of service. Lets start by the sushi, sashimi and japanese section. it was clean, not overflowing with food and was refill properly. I personally am concerned on Japanese fish so I did ask to talk to one of the chef that I saw behind a window and assume he might be in charge, and this chef started by greeting me (ok, Hold on your horses... a chef that greet you on a buffet? I did not had this since I left Mainland China... I never had this in Hong Kong..waoow!!!) he was smiling, he did not look at me with this attitude oh to usual in Hong Kong of "why are you bothering me?". no not at all, this chef seems happy that I asked him a question. he did not know where the fish was from but did asked around the other chefs and it seems that the fish was mainly from europe. not sure if it is true, but it doesn't matter at least he made me feel that he genuinely tried to assist me. the soba noodle were good too, the display look nice and was clean, the chefs station were clean and the chefs uniform were clean and ironed... moving on to the rest of the buffet, you will find some Asian dishes, but again every thing is refill often so the food do not stay a long time on the buffet line, the chefs behind are actively moving around, cooking, chopping, it is a nice feel. The buffet offer a wide array of choices for everyone to enjoy, from Asian spicy food, variety of seafood, Noodles, Western food, Salad section, Cheese, A genuinely placed kids buffet, beside the fruits, a wonderful soft serve ice cream machine, and (this will be my only negative comment I promised) a disappointing dessert buffet that do not live up to the standard of the rest of the buffet. but again a small detail, if like me you go and enjoy the buffet the way i did, you will be happy with few slices of fruit and an ice cream for dessert, and this has not bring my happy experience down.
the overall feeling you will get is that the place is clean, the food is good, the atmosphere is great, the service is unmatched in Hong Kong, and not the most important but details are everything the display of food is absolutely worth it. they even thought of not having those stupid tags to describe the food in front where it always is in the way of you trying to get some, but smartly stick on the back wall of the display where it is not on your way of service.
Well I could use the same words as they do in marketing, like "mouthwatering buffet" "delightful array of choices" etc..etc... but I never really understand it and I prefer to tell you very simply that is for me the BEST buffet in Hong Kong if you are looking for a good overall experience, good food, good people, good atmosphere and here no-one will tell your kids are disturbing them. If you have never experience it yet, just go at least once, you won't regret it.
