The first restaurant for a late night meal popping in mind is definitely Tung Tai Cha Chaan Ting! Tsat Tze Mui Rd was pretty quiet but walking in this restaurant, it felt like different world. What a hassle restaurant. All tables were seated and so many waiting for take out too.Late night menu was pretty economical and again in massive portion. Late night menu was pretty economical and again in massive portion. No wonder so many taxi drivers parked their taxi out for a quick stomach fuel up. We ordered baked spaghetti bolognese and minced fried rice in prawn paste.
Their tomato soup was absolutely my childhood favourite. Tangy and loaded with vegetables. Love the beefy flavour to balance the acidity. Vegetables were cooked softly which melted in mouth.
I was hoping the baked spaghetti bolognese topped with more cheese or even with mild burnt cheese. Bolognese was generous, fully covered and enough to mix with all pasta. Right balance of minced and sauce. Spaghetti was slightly overcooked but still allowing me to fork out. It was more savoury than I thought. Not much marinara tomato flavour but meaty. Not bad.
Fried rice was absolutely enormous! Almost 5 bowls of rice or even 6. Smelly shrimpy and flavourful. Fried rice was as dry as expected, could taste every biteful of rice. Right balance of mince and rice. The fried egg gave a great eggy flavour but didnt overpower the dish. Shrimp paste wasnt salty at all, good enough to just give an aroma. Very delicious.
It was a satiating meal at late. Polite and efficient service. Packed for a reason!
