Dover sole, Almond and I planned to have lunch together and Dover sole suggested pho, and pho tai seems to be the right place for lunchie. Was gonna introduce Dover sole to a friend of mine, Raddish, however Raddish was busy in some conference today and so he could not make it to our lunchie. Nevermind. A numerous time when I walked pass this shop there was a long queue at the door, luckily, it did not seem to have any queue at all today! I'm not so sure if there's anything to do with the gloomy weather lately or the approaching armageddon. No matter, we marched into the shop happily and the waitresses brought us to our seats. The shop was pretty small on the ground floor (apparently there was a second floor), our seats were right behind the cashier, so it was very near to the entrance. We ordered three sets of "C", which only cost us $57 each (no service charge), very reasonable I would say. It comes with one snack, one main course and one drink. Almond ordered sliced pork with vietnamese noodles (cold) and papaya saladShe said it was good. (No further comments provided before the submission deadline)(Personally I don't really like the presentation of the papaya salad, to me, it looked like some random ingredients prepared by the prep chef and sent out without the executive chef approving - unfinished)Dover sole had Pho (Beef Hor Fan w/ soup) for her main, and fried pork chop for the snackThe pho had a generous portion of semi-cooked beef, Dov said the soup temperature was just right to cook the raw beef.Although the fried pork chop was a bit cold, it was tender. Dov then intellegently warmed the pork in her pho soup and she said it was okay. The pho came with some bean sprouts and lemon leaves. Nice, but not so nice when I tried to take some of those from that huge plate for my vietnamese noodles cos that waitress said it wasn't for us with vietnamese noodles, but only for pho!! Almond and I was a bit upset by her theory and I almost refused to continue with my lunch, but I was hungry, fine.I had pork chop with vietnamese noodles (cold) and spring rollsThe noodles was fine, I mean it couldn't go wrong actually (otherwise it'd be really unfortunate), with a bit of chopped spring onions, chopped deep fried garlic, chopped raddish and fish sauce, it was quite refreshing. The spring rolls were brilliant and I think it just came out piping hot from the oil. Crispy and hot!For drinks we ordered two salty 07 and a lime soda.Salty 07 was not salty enough, I think it is to do with the preserved kumquats. It was average.Food was generally good and we had a happy lunchie, despite the narrow seats and the bean sprouts being taken away, for just $57 we all thought it was a really good bargain. For other places nearby serving the exact combo might cost you a hundred. (check out the other review of mine)so... 文ey for valueness: 9/10

Lunched today - chicken noodles with lemon tea. Food is average. But service is poor. Asked for a cup of water many times, but the watresses just ignored and gave you a long face. I would go there more if the restaurant would give me a cup of water. Now with the poor service this restaurant is ranked as my last choice (The restarant owner should note: Poor service can drive away business!!).
