午餐時間,人龍不短,等了大概半小時才能入座,待應很 hyper, 唔知以為自己去咗迪士尼,但尚算殷勤,裝修很有越南街頭味道,坐得好迫。食物沒有想像中好,份量少,定價貴,吃唔飽,但 gimmick 十足。可以一試,會唔會再回頭就好難講。冇樣嘢太突出,除咗價錢外。好似同媒體介紹有D出入。選擇也不算多

The Banh Mi ($88) was made fresh in front of us at the counter , they spread some Pâté and mayo then they add in the assorted cold cuts (i dont know all those names, but they look familar to those i had in HCM city) then pickles, cilantro, spring onions and fish sauce to follow before they serve, the chef that prepared the Banh Mi asked if we like it , and we realise that the pork floss can be added upon request. Similar to my fav one in Banh Mi Huynh Hoa , they replaced lard with their homemade mayo which added a little bit of acidity on the bun, i didn’t like that additional fav, rather than that it was the real deal, i will remember the pork floss next time though, and perhaps i will bring some chili for them to add in for me. If the one in Banh Mi Huynh Hoa is the authentic one, then i would say it is a 85% authentic one in here!
除了主食,我們先點了一個越式法包Banh Mi($88)分享!微暖的麵包,塗上肝醬,蛋黃醬,各式切肉,再加上醃菜,莞茜和魚露後切半奉客(也可一開三)用上自家調的蛋黃醬醋味有點重,除此之外其實真的甚有胡志明市殿堂法包店Banh Mi Huynh Hoa的影子,廚房那位負責人笑說肉鬆可以特別要求加的喔,要是再加上點辣椒,再把蛋黃醬換上薄薄的豬油,大概就可以重現那份美味了吧!

We both had Bun Bo Hue ($98) as our “main course”, while beef is the key! Unlike everyone is going after Pho Bo for viet cuisine, they decide to sell something differently to stand out from the crowd. A sightly spicy beef broth topped with noodles, some fatty beef, beef ball, a sausage and beef brisket, they topped with lemon grass, fried garlic and spring onion before they served.

I have to admit we are not a fan of that thick cut meaty beef brisket, and the beef ball for us is a little too fluffy , unlike those I had in viet before, that sausage however was the highlight of the dish and the toppings was a key to success for this soup. I guess I may try something else for main in the future if I come back next time, but I would say this noodle was nicely done.

沒有如大部份越南店子都做牛河,這裡做的幾款湯粉沒有很常見到,兩隻牛魔王也各自點了順化牛肉粉($98)微辣的牛肉湯底加上檬粉,生牛肉,牛肉丸,越南香腸與炆牛腩,最後加上檸檬葉,炸蒜與油蔥酥,實在很豐富!
湯頭不錯,檬也沒有過淋口感合宜,牛丸肉質太鬆所以不是很對味,那件厚切牛腩很有咬口炆得入味我卻偏好薄切,或許給我一件多點油花的會好一些吧!那條越式香腸各生牛就是錦上添花,再加上那堆配料,是合心意的。

The Saigon Special ($48) was smooth enough, I wasn’t a fan of beer but tomorrow is my day off so let’s chill for a bit with beer


啤酒($48)就不說了,我不是個常喝啤酒的人,但明天要放假,就來一瓶跟身邊人啤啤佢就好。

I think we were a little too talkative so at the end of our meal the owner came and asked if we liked the food, we had a short chat about vietnamese cuisine and I think this guy has been working hard out to make their production more on the authentic side, he is passionate about what he is doing and willing to take comments.

The bill turns out to be around $420 , oh yeah you can have the Banh Mi in Tim Kee for half of the price and cheaper deal in somewhere else, but for this price point , location and quality I would say it is a place that worth to come.

也許是我太多話了,離座前負責人走過來問我們食物水準如何,和他聊了一陣子,原來他也有另一家店,同時也是個愛吃之人,知道他們的風格是朝著做傳統風味的方向走,實在很難得,希望他們早日埋班做出更多好吃的料理吧!為了那個Banh Mi我是會再回來的喔!
價格在這區是中等吧,價錢比渡船街添記是高,但可以好好地坐下享受晚餐,也加上在店中見到那台越式車仔檔,那份誠意就足以讓我再回來吧

今日3個人,又再嚟試越南粉,因為我地都唔係大食一族,所以多個人就可以叫多份春卷試。為咗唔洗排隊,當然係1:45左右先去到啦。上次試完Bün mäm,今次試Bün Thái,魚蛋質地同上次唔同,冇咁彈牙。蝦有3隻,都係唔洗拆殼,不過細隻咗。墨魚圈好甜。仲有3塊牛肉,但浸得太耐,冇咩味道。湯有少辣。成碗都算唔錯嘅。Chà Giò 我同兩位友人都食唔到,入面包住啲咩,但口感非常實在,好食。但係得5條,好難分得均衡囉。Cà phê süa dá 咖啡味唔濃架,但係有香味,飲完條氣都唔會唔舒服。我平時飲咖啡實反胃。同事飲 Düa,呢餐都覺得好飽。3個人埋單 $539。

Real authentic Vietnamese food! The Bun Bo Hue is amazing, with depth of flavor, and a perfect balance. The Banh Mi bread is fresh and crispy, with the right amount of heat and delicious cold cuts. The staff is very nice and efficient, with not much of a wait to order and food to arrive. Definitely will be back again and often!

I fan girl Anthony Bourdain. I've read all his books. Avidly watch his tv shows especially No Reservations.  Making notes to myself to visit these places he ate at. When I first moved to Hong  Kong, I literally followed his episode of Hong Kong and tried to find all the places he ate at. I fan girl Anthony Bourdain. I've read all his books. Avidly watch his tv shows especially No Reservations.  Making notes to myself to visit these places he ate at. When I first moved to Hong  Kong, I literally followed his episode of Hong Kong and tried to find all the places he ate at. It is the way he explores  food on his travels is how I model my foodie travel adventures as well.


In an episode of No Reservations, Anthony Bourdain visited Ho Chi Minh and ate at a street side noodle stand owned by The Lunch Lady. After that episode, fans of Bourdain flocked to her noodle stand and well ... she became famous. So famous, that the co-owner of Three Monkey's,  Brian Woo, became her apprentice for three years to learn her craft and take this to Hong Kong. In honor of the Lunch Lady, he named it Co Thanh, after her name: Nguyen Thi Thanh or Madame Thanh.



When I read about this, I was excited. This was my most anticipated restaurant opening of the year. And when it opened, I had to go as soon as it opened. I had to know. Was it good? Did he do it justice?


Located in the Poho area of Central, the exterior looks like any one of those old buildings you'd find in Vietnam

Inside, it's decorated like you are eating right on the streets of Vietnam.  There is even a replica of the noodle carts that you see all over Vietnam. The tables are made of stainless steel. You sit on plastic stools. It's almost like you are sitting on the street. Except one thing. There is air conditioning. Something not found in her original shop.

Boyfriend and I arrived at 6 PM on a Tuesday and it was already packed with a small line of people waiting. However, after waiting for about 5 minutes, a waitress asked if we were willing to share a table and we were ushered in.


Menu is in English and Vietnamese. There is no 10% service charge. It's a simple menu that focuses on three version of bun, a vermicelli noodle dish that uses a thicker, rounder noodle. You won't find pho here. But you will find spring rolls and banh mi and a couple of Vietnamese desserts. Boyfriend lit up when he saw they served Bia, the Vietnamese beer he had in Hanoi. We joked if we ordered it, would they give him a glass of ice and a warm beer to pour into it like how we had it in Vietnam. The waitress was nice and explained to us the menu and what to expect.

Banh  Mi ($88).  Boyfriend and  I shared a banh mi  because hey ... we're desperate to find a good one here in Hong Kong. And I'd like to say, after so much disappointment time and time again, I think I've found it! The bread was fantastic. Crispy yet not dense. Light and airy. Exactly what the bread should be!

It was stuffed with two different Vietnamese cold cuts, pickles, cilantro, spring onions and pate. As I feared the chili peppers would  be too spicy, it was served on the side for boyfriend who said they were REALLY spicy. I loved the pate as it was creamy and rich. The pickled items were sharply tart to balance the meat. The cilantro gave it freshness.

Bun Bo Hue ($98).  This is one of the version of bun which features a  beef broth. You get beef balls and beef brisket with a douse of crispy fried garlic and spring onion. The broth was light with a hint of spiciness. The brisket was a bit too fat for me but it was super tender. The best was the beef balls. Perfectly firm and packed with beef flavor.

Bun Mam ($98). This is the signature bowl of noodles that has a fermented fish and shrimp based broth. You get shrimp, fish balls, squid, chives and pineapple slices. The broth was much better than the bun bo hue. It was richer and more fragrant. It had a slight bit of spiciness that tingled just enough without being over powering. It was a good  balance of spicy, salty and sour. The pineapple slices were fresh pineapple, the shrimp was firm and fresh. The fish balls were bouncy. But the best was the squid slices which were not too chewy and cooked just right. I loved how the vermicelli was al dente throughout the meal.

Probably one of the best Vietnamese in town. Though serious mark up rate as a bowl of noodles at the actual restaurant in Vietnam costs only 30,000 dong (or $10 HKD). But here I paid almost $100 for my bowl. But then rent doesn't cost as much as it does in Vietnam as well. But over all, this is the best Vietnamese I've had in a long LONG time in Hong Kong. It was delicious. It was exactly how I remembered good it was in Vietnam. Just not as expensive. But I'll be back because Vietnam is still a plane ride away.

一間完全零裝修無餐牌全英文溝通的小店每碗湯粉接近一百,再加小吃及飲品接近二百.....門外依然出現一條長長排隊人龍!Bún bò Huế $98順化牛肉粉 --牛丸、牛腩、魚卷,切幼絲的檸檬草,大量的蔥花及香葉,炸過的乾蔥。湯頭的味道微酸帶甜充滿牛骨香。而粉則像比較幼及硬身的米線。Chả giò 春卷---$58--不是網紙皮而是普通春卷皮,饀料以芋頭為主,入口香脆微辣不油膩。是香港從未出現過的越南味道,接不接受都幾兩極。我就好有興趣再去試埋個見到人地食都覺得幾正的Bánh bao。

越南菜係one of my favourite,可惜香港冇乜高質選擇。聽講依間最近開既餐廳標榜自己賣正宗越南湯麵,黎開中環就行上黎會會佢由唔起眼既木門入去,滿室都係越式湯河既香味!右手邊係吧檯,再入有幾張4人檯,全店只有大概25個位,中午食飯時間等左一陣間。吧檯旁邊放左架越南街邊檔車仔,好得意,唔知係咪嗰邊運過黎既呢?因為當日仲係soft opening,所以只有牆上既越南文menu,侍應會主動埋黎講解比你聽。只供應三種湯麵:Bun mam(雜錦海鮮),或叫做Vietnamese Gumbo;Bun Bo Hue(牛肉);Bun Thai(侍應話係泰式越南麵)。小食有炸春卷、bahn mi(越式法包)。而飲品要另加,冇set,除左汽水檸水之外仲有新鮮椰青同滴漏咖啡同朋友嗌左兩個Bun mam,再加一客春卷share。春卷包住滿滿既豬肉,調味岩岩好又炸得香口,上嗰時仲係辣口既,好食Bun mam喺吧檯嗰邊即整,有兩隻蝦、魷魚、兩粒炸魚蛋、豬腩肉切片,仲有秋葵、菠蘿、同輕輕炸過既茄子,好豐富!麵線似米線既粗幼;蝦尚算鮮甜;魚蛋唔係食開嗰啲港式彈牙魚蛋,口感淋啲,魚味都夠既;最好食係菠蘿,可

Bun mam喺吧檯嗰邊即整,有兩隻蝦、魷魚、兩粒炸魚蛋、豬腩肉切片,仲有秋葵、菠蘿、同輕輕炸過既茄子,好豐富!麵線似米線既粗幼;蝦尚算鮮甜;魚蛋唔係食開嗰啲港式彈牙魚蛋,口感淋啲,魚味都夠既;最好食係菠蘿,可惜得一塊
依度既湯底鮮得黎比出面既甜,好似落左糖咁,不過仍然令我飲唔停口

記憶中埋單$350,偏貴,中環食飯就預左。而且喺香港冇食過依種越南麵,有理由將定價set高啲!等我下次試埋法包,睇下佐敦馬丁王/添記定佢好食啲

最近九如坊開咗間好hit嘅pho,裝修好有性格,industrial風不在話下,門口都就咁用一塊地盤木板攪掂都幾型。每次lunch 都好長隊,排到出街,要踎係膠櫈仔等位,好有越南街頭風味喎。餐牌冇中英說明,但有𡃁仔哥哥一輪嘴話比你知今日有咩食。每日大概有3種粉,1種越南包同1種小吃,賣晒就收工。咖啡幾正中,好飲!炸越南春卷雖然無咩特別但可以一食,始終碗粉先係靈魂所在。越南粉,湯底最重要,好比滷水鵝店,滷水係命根。牛肉粉湯底好有誠意,香濃有牛味。餸有牛腩,牛肉片同牛丸,牛腩最值得讚,厚厚的一塊有肥瘦相間,入口酥化,牛肉鮮香係口度久久不散。一啖牛一啖粉再一啖熱湯送落肚,正到暈。第二碗係海鮮河,大大隻蝦都幾不過都係牛河正啲。係度的確揾到係越南街邊湯粉嘅味道,大概最唔同嘅,係價錢分別吧,食個 lunch 都幾$$$吓

越南粉,湯底最重要,好比滷水鵝店,滷水係命根。牛肉粉湯底好有誠意
,香濃有牛味。餸有牛腩,牛肉片同牛丸,牛腩最值得讚,厚厚的一塊有肥瘦相間,入口酥化,牛肉鮮香係口度久久不散。一啖牛一啖粉再一啖熱湯送落肚,正到暈。第二碗係海鮮河,大大隻蝦都幾

係度的確揾到係越南街邊湯粉嘅味道,大概最唔同嘅,係價錢分別吧,食個 lunch 都幾$$$吓

Co Thanh有聞這家店子的老闆向越南出名的小店"the lunch lady"的Nguyen Thi Thanh拜師,仲足足學左三年才回港開店,鍾愛越菜的我們無理由唔去試試。早前有雜誌介紹過,早在七月初的週末到訪,點知路經兩次都食閉門羹。今曰未到七時到達,已經見到人龍了。即使在門外等候,不時傳來陣陣越菜味道,真叫人期待。店子裝修十分地道越南風格,水泥牆身和接枱,好像上次越南路邊攤檔的様子。這兒的餐點種類唔多,只有三款麵、一款主菜、一種三文治、一款頭盤、春卷,一種甜品及七款飲品。Cha gio $58春卷:一客有五條,有別於的越式網狀春卷,這兒的好像迷你的廣東春卷,入口香脆。而饀料有豬肉饀,味道帶有少少甜味,而魚露只是淡淡的襯托著,夾埋生菜包住食,又幾好味噃Bun mam$98這湯麵材料豐富而質數也不錯,有蝦、魚旦、肉片等。蝦已經去殼,幾鮮甜,肉唔會酶;魚旦幾彈牙;豬肉是五花腩,幾肥美。最讚的是湯底有鮮味,而鮮味中透著甘香的蝦醬同魚露的味道,這味道既好又獨特,是坊間少嚐到的味道。麵條像是米線,入口十分滑溜,但份量偏少,怪不得鄰座的男生要吃兩碗!Bun bo hue $98這碗湯麵有牛

春卷:一客有五條,有別於的越式網狀春卷,這兒的好像迷你的廣東春卷,入口香脆。而饀料有豬肉饀,味道帶有少少甜味,而魚露只是淡淡的襯托著,夾埋生菜包住食,又幾好味噃

這湯麵材料豐富而質數也不錯,有蝦、魚旦、肉片等。蝦已經去殼,幾鮮甜,肉唔會酶;魚旦幾彈牙;豬肉是五花腩,幾肥美。最讚的是湯底有鮮味,而鮮味中透著甘香的蝦醬同魚露的味道,這味道既好又獨特,是坊間少嚐到的味道。麵條像是米線,入口十分滑溜,但份量偏少,怪不得鄰座的男生要吃兩碗!

這碗湯麵有牛丸,魚肉春卷同香蔥等。牛丸大大粒有肉味,魚肉春卷幾爽口彈牙。湯底同剛才的節然不同,滿有濃郁牛肉味,細味之下,又有少少辛口同鮮甜,味道幾有層次。

這三文治都幾巨型,餡料十足,有自家醬料、cold cut,pickle,cilantro, 洋蔥同越南chill pepper,眼見肉的份量不少。一咬下去,啖啖肉,肉味十足而cold cut 一點也不乾。加上青瓜、配菜同微辣的肝醬,味道豐富而口感清爽。這包雖ok, 連加一索價$100,真的有點貴,若是定價$68更為合理。

整體而言,味道幾好而獨特,尤其湯粉,價格為中環價錢,而食客也以外國人居多,值得一試。

To start with, allow me to praise the owner for serving some delicious Vietnamese food. We ordered the beef noodle bun bo hue and bahm mi. Both of these dishes were very tasty. Well done. With all the focus on food quality, they have sadly missed the mark on operation. They have a good concept, good quality of food, but they need a COO/ someone who knows how to run a restaurant. To start with, allow me to praise the owner for serving some delicious Vietnamese food. We ordered the beef noodle bun bo hue and bahm mi. Both of these dishes were very tasty. Well done.
With all the focus on food quality, they have sadly missed the mark on operation. They have a good concept, good quality of food, but they need a COO/ someone who knows how to run a restaurant. Allow me to give a few feedback

Two of us went there for lunch on a weekday. It opens 12noon, we arrived 1205. There were 8 ppl in the queue in front of us.

1. There were no one controlling the queue and it just kept building up in a disorderly manner. It's not until around 1230 the young owner came out and asked people to queue around the corner to avoid the sun. The first 30min was disorganized and people were looking at each other in displease.

2. Later it turned out the queue built up because they reserved a table for a party of 5-7 friends/family. This is a restaurant of 20 odd seats. For a quick service restaurant with ppl sharing tables and sitting on plastic stool, with 20 people queuing up, why would u allow such booking? Pleasing 5 friends but upsetting 20-30future returning customers?

3. They allow people to sit down when their dining partners haven't arrived. They sat around 15min not ordering, before their friends arrived. Again it just hold up the queue and slow the service.

4. There is no printed menu! The owner and the other service staff came to each table, talked for 5min to explain 5-6 dishes, French restaurant style. I appreciate the attentive service but on the other hand, the service was rush and the staff were talking so fast, it's hard to customer to register their words. "What did he say about the third dish?" It just slows the whole operation down. Also, there is no mention of prices. U wouldn't know until u get the bill. Why not just bite the bullet and print some menu? Or use the HK style "tick boxes on a piece of paper"?

I would suggest the owners to figure out the kind of operation they want to run. If they want to create Michelin style service (explaining menu to individual customer, booking and reservation allowed, let people sit down without the full party), you can't expect people to queue for ages (45min for me, despite 1205 arrival), sitting elbow to elbow, sharing a table with six strangers.

Btw, the six strangers on my table were all unhappy with the set up throughout
the meal.

I would love to return and eat the excellent quality of Vietnamese street food, but not until they change the way they run the restaurant.

看完報紙, 滿心期待地想試呢間野... 因為自己好鍾意食越南野, 特別中環d pho店真係好好食..所以見到有新越南野食, 心諗一定要去食啦好多好多人.... 排左45分鐘.對於中環上班的人, 可能吃得會有點趕 (如果不用上班會好一點)沒有Menu..... 你想食咩都係由侍認口述給你聽  ice coffee 比較特別<<<<< 等咖啡蒸發溜落黎... 幾特別 , 可以推介 叫左個BUN ... 是醃魚蝦膏湯底個個, 真心 湯底真的好好飲, 好入味但個粉其實應該即係米線....  比較彈牙小小既米線,但個份量係平時食開 x仔米線份量既一半,   但價錢就2,3倍咁啦所以對於一個工作了半天, LUNCH 諗住食飽D既女仔既我黎講,  真係唔係好夠飽春卷合格...可以叫... 但個汁無咩味係好味...但對我來說 應該去一次就夠了

Had dinner here twice already, the noodle soup and bahn mi were spot on, the spring rolls were also really good, perfect crunch with a nice soft meaty filling. No messy spring rolls as the outer crust was just perfect and doesn't fall apart when you're eating. Broth is really good and for those who like spicy you can request for some more hot chilis!! Vibe is great and great place to relax and eat good food!!!
