You have to go up to the second floor of the building to get here and the environment looks nice enough, as does the food and bread. I had the escargot cooked with bone marrow on top of an actual bone. Like the restaurant itself, it looked the part and tasted -ok-, but not particularly savory, which is unusual for bone marrow. The same can be said for the bread, which comes out warm and in paper bags. It all looks and seems like it should be very good, and is actually better than your average di
The waiters and staff are polite, insofar as they won't cop an attitude, but at the same time, they will also not admit to any problems with an actual apology. To wit:
Our group ordered clam linguine dishes (which I'm told were pretty good), a chicken Kiev, and a lobster bisque. It's at least 30 minutes before food comes out, and even then, we're told that the reason is that the chicken will need 5 more minutes to cook. When the dishes arrive, the chicken is dry and hard, and the soup is nowhere to be seen. Their "apology" is 唔好意思, which is to say not an apology at all. And the soup will take 10 more minutes if I still want it! They had forgotten to put the order in and wouldn't even own up to that. 3 minutes later, the sorry excuse for a bisque arrives: it's tomato puree with corn starch, and a scrap of what one assumes is lobster. The description had indicated that it's cooked with a sort of wine, but the taste is just as bland as the escargot appetizer.
And the chicken? Their excuse is that chicken is safer when cooked longer.
It was a terrible experience mitigated only by having half a liter of Hoegaarden with my food.
This place is a joke. My suggestion: save your money and your aggravation. But this is Hong Kong after all, where accountability doesn't exist and they will laugh as they take your money.
题外话/补充资料:
At not point did the servers break from their politeness, but they also furnished me with their head office's contact information to lodge a formal complaint.
