Today I went to the 60 Ventris road for lunch and ordered the Eric Kayser burger which claimed to be their signature dish, but it turned out to be the worst burger I have ever had comparatively to any of the local pub around Happy Valley!!!!The beef they use for the paddy is cheap beef and the proportion of the mixture is all wrong, it is tasteless and unable to let me enjoy a great aroma of the beef; not to say the cooking technique, they didn't pan fried the paddy well to lock the moist and th

The beef they use for the paddy is cheap beef and the proportion of the mixture is all wrong, it is tasteless and unable to let me enjoy a great aroma of the beef; not to say the cooking technique, they didn't pan fried the paddy well to lock the moist and the juice inside but let the juice run and make the bread soggy with blood....The fries were soft and soggy and had to return to the kitchen and re-fried it.
It's very disappointing!!!!!!
I had a great expectation for my bread which I tried in Paris ( they are crispy on the outside and soft and smells great and tasted great) but Happy Valley's  is a big disappointment!!!!!

Though the servers at this bakery cafe needed a bit more life, the wait time was decent & the atmosphere was pretty relaxed - a great location for afternoon tea, or brunch on the weekends.The iced chocolate could be a little richer in taste and the temperature blended more prior to serving. It must have been quite a busy morning for them on a Sunday morning, as the few waiting staff were often seen rushing around yet weren't exactly providing efficient service. Our coffees were sitting on the bench for at least 10 mins before I volunteered to take them to our table myself. Other guests were left just sitting at their table without a menu to the point that they went to the counter to try to order, thinking that there was no table service.That aside, the staff were all very pleasant

That aside, the staff were all very pleasant, they probably only need more guidance and experience.
The coffee is appalling - they definitely need to get someone who can make a better cup of coffee.
The bread is world class though.
The walnut loaf and the fig loaf were divine - chewy and full of flavour. The brioche was buttery and soft.
So the bread and pastry will be the only reason that I will keep coming back.
For take out only at the moment.

Sad to see Coffee Plus closed down but glad to see Eric Kayser opened their branch store in Happy Valley. Before I was worried that it would be occupied by another real estate agency company due to the high rent.Eric Kayser is situated on a nice and quiet Ventris Road. If you look at the shop front, you would only thought of it as a bakery shop as bread baskets were located all over the window area, but in fact they also service brunch and dinner.I guess the store has only opened for a few days

Eric Kayser is situated on a nice and quiet Ventris Road. If you look at the shop front, you would only thought of it as a bakery shop as bread baskets were located all over the window area, but in fact they also service brunch and dinner.

I guess the store has only opened for a few days and there were not many people dining in. I have ordered a burger, croque Monsieur and a ciabatta. Besides, after a day of hard work, I decided to ordered a latte to keep me awake throughout my meal.

My coffee firstly arrived among my order. As expected, the quality of it is quite low and in some case similar to starbucks. The foam was already separated from the milk when it arrived. There was some sort of latte art on top but of course a complete disaster. I do not understand why if the owner is willing to invest on an espresso machine and a grinder, why won't they give proper training to their staff to make good coffee. Otherwise, with this kind of standard, they might be better off to buy a fully automatic coffee machine.

Next came my burger. The appearance of the burger is the kind of standard I expected from this store! Although the burger was quite salty,it tasted incredibly good! The meat was so tender and it kind of melted in my mouth! This reminds me the best burger I have ever eaten in Duke's burger. And since Duke's no longer existed, I would say Eric Kayser now have the best burger in town!

In regards of my ciabatta, it is also quite good but not as excited as the burger. The cheese and pesto sauce go well with the bread.

Lastly came my croque Monsieur. I always thought this would come along with a fried egg but this one is simply bread sandwiched with ham and cheese. The taste of it is only average to me..

I will definitely come back to this store for bread and burger in the future. However, I think this place would really rock if they can improve their coffee to standard like the one 'Coffee Plus' served before, as coffee goes well with bread.

I bought a large baguette, fig bread, chocolate croissant and large brioche. there wasn't anythig remarkable about the crust of the baguette but the inside was really nice: slightly chewy and soft. The croissant had good quality chocolate.

The fig bread and the brioche were, in my opinion, outstanding. The fig bread had plenty of pieces of fig and was dense and not overly sweet because the figs provided a delicious sweetness when you bit into them. The brioche, aside from being enormous, was very buttery and light with a bit of sweetness. The top of the brioche had a light dusting of crunchy sugar crystals that were a nice addition although the brioche really didn't need it because it was perfect on its own.
