6-7-2010一直同想試的呢間印度店無緣, 是日 lunch 終於來了. 叫了 set lunch ($48), 跟餐湯, 飯, naan 及飲品, 勁多嘢食 不過本身對 basmati 麻麻, order 時還是預先「單」聲, 只要 naan bread 好了.餐湯係 carrot soup, 質地稀稀的, 不過飲落都有少少少少少 carrot 味及微甜, 算啦.主食揀了 "fish curry"... 店員 (老闆娘?) 問我 "spicy or not spicy?", 唔食得辣的我就答了 "little spicy", 出到嚟就原來唔多 spicy Masala 算濃, 幾香, 亦帶點蕃茄味及酸酸甜甜, 幾好食; 魚肉嫩滑入味 (咬開見中間直程「染」到黃色的!), 幾好食. 另仲有薯仔, 不過粉粉實實的, 麻麻哋.Naan bread 一客兩片, 面烘得少少脆, 但唔夠熱, 唔夠鬆軟又有點太薄身, 不過用嚟蘸 masala 汁, 都 ok 的; 旁邊的 green salad 就無食了, 唔知橙色 dressing 係乜來?店員見我無要飯, 又咁快食晒兩片 n

一直同想試的呢間印度店無緣, 是日 lunch 終於來了.
叫了 set lunch ($48), 跟餐湯, 飯, naan 及飲品, 勁多嘢食
不過本身對 basmati 麻麻, order 時還是預先「單」聲, 只要 naan bread 好了.

餐湯係 carrot soup, 質地稀稀的, 不過飲落都有少少少少少 carrot 味及微甜, 算啦.

主食揀了 "fish curry"... 店員 (老闆娘?) 問我 "spicy or not spicy?", 唔食得辣的我就答了 "little spicy", 出到嚟就原來唔多 spicy
Masala 算濃, 幾香, 亦帶點蕃茄味及酸酸甜甜, 幾好食; 魚肉嫩滑入味 (咬開見中間直程「染」到黃色的!), 幾好食.
另仲有薯仔, 不過粉粉實實的, 麻麻哋.

Naan bread 一客兩片, 面烘得少少脆, 但唔夠熱, 唔夠鬆軟又有點太薄身, 不過用嚟蘸 masala 汁, 都 ok 的; 旁邊的 green salad 就無食了, 唔知橙色 dressing 係乜來?

店員見我無要飯, 又咁快食晒兩片 naan bread , 竟然主動問我 "more naan?"
但眼前仲有大量 masala 汁, 當然老實不客氣
第二 round 用錫紙墊底的 basket 上, 較第一 round 的厚少少少少少, 不過就更熱辣鬆軟, 仲帶麵粉香
, 呢個好食好多!

餐飲叫了凍檸茶, 檸檬片份量不少, 但太細塊了, 篤極都無檸肉出來, 飲落亦當然無檸味, 真係


食物不錯, 不過唔知點解 weekday lunch hour 可以包場一樣, 又一 marginalisation 現象?

埋單 $48, 幾抵, 值得一試的.

Sad to see such mixed reviews about Masala. At times, different people have different expectations (whether based on their preconceived idea of how such and such kind of food should taste or look like, this includes my own), so it is a tough call for what makes good or bad food. My husband and I have had meals (mostly dinner) at Masala I'd say 2 times a month during our stay here in SW, and we wouldn't be going back if it wasn't good or met/exceeded our expectations. Sad to see such mixed reviews about Masala. At times, different people have different expectations (whether based on their preconceived idea of how such and such kind of food should taste or look like, this includes my own), so it is a tough call for what makes good or bad food.

My husband and I have had meals (mostly dinner) at Masala I'd say 2 times a month during our stay here in SW, and we wouldn't be going back if it wasn't good or met/exceeded our expectations. The owner can be over welcoming sometimes but always good to be over than under? I suppose.

First up, you get 2 Poppadums with Raita. Poppadums are salty and crunchy, while the Raita is extremely garlicky. We loved it! Husband always steals my share. I have to keep an eye on it.

Husband orders Kingfisher beer ($30), and myself Mango Lassi ($35). Lassi is nice and thick, tend to be a bit sweet but bearable.

We almost always order the same thing, boring but safe. Lamb Korma/Lamb Madras + Dahl Makhani + Garlic Naan. These dishes come out in small portions, and I believe it is for a good reason. With all the sauces in curries and what not, you don't really need big portions.

Lamb was tender and the accompanying curry sauce tastes more complex than other Chinese curries. It's more nutty and has a sweet taste to it. Dahl Makhani is basically black beans cooked for a very long time (along with other things), this has a sweet and creamy taste to it as well. Both dishes get a splash of either yogurt or coconut milk on top.

You can't really taste the garlic in the Garlic Naan but it is thin and crunchy, so it works out for me well.

So for 2 beers, 1 drink, 3 dishes for dinner, all adds up to about HKD$270. A bit expensive (mind you, we're quite thrifty), but always good to have a special night.

又係同個friend做完gym泥增肥,先來carrot soup,不濃,但ok的送黑椒薄餅,ok crispy,但無sauce配main course 係菠菜咖喱雞同黃咖喱羊,味ok,但不夠深度,食完口乾,似味情跟餐的反ok,但naan不夠乾上環indian food有更好choice

一月中,心情麻麻,叫好友幫我搵上環孖沙街好讓去食Masala,揀下揀下不如食印度野啦,反正ok平,蔡San又講過@@"個湯應該係Carrot Soup,爆甜又有蔬果味,不過個質感讓我懷疑.....Beans?!之後叫左個Korma Lamb,咦,唔係想像中咁甜Wor.......個Naan鬆軟但同Aroma @ TST爭一截,始終唔係重Garlic*杏仁味唔重但香草味OK,羊肉既質地都好嫩,一切到現時都係Okay既......之但係我叫錯甜品囉@@"原本個糖漿浸蛋糕變左個好茴香既紅蘿蔔布甸,嘩,爆想.......><"如果唔係甜品出左事,笑臉應該好低難度@@"

星期日同朋友到上環行左轉,上網search左間食咖哩竟然冇開,行行下見到呢間係openrice見過,就入去試下。可能系tea時間,入去到走人全場得我地一台客。個老闆好nice,落力推介果日好食既餐比我地。餐前個薄餅點個醬好好味,就咁食既話系咸咸地,好似有d芝麻係上面,個湯就好香我地嗌左2個set lunch一個係咖哩羊肉:一粒粒既羊肉有d硬,但有d都林林地,ok啦一個好似係咖哩紅燒雞脾(唔記得左啦):有3隻,d雞真係好香好好味d咖哩唔算太辣,我地唔太食辣既都接受到我地冇嗌到餐飲,食晒個餐已經好飽。最後仲同個老闆影相,佢仲嗌我地come again tim^^我地嗌左每個set $6x,但埋單先total $106= =

跟大少來,知道出名的是curry,就點3樣。咖哩魚頭,汁很濃,魚頭是三文魚頭,可見誠意十足;羊肉咖哩,肉煮得又專又熟,味道很好;蔬菜咖哩,有羊角豆,咖啡帶甜,送飯一流。那個餐前的脆皮薄餅很不錯,夠香也夠crispy。整體說的確感受到小店老闆的努力,而且最普通的飲品lassi芒果也做得好,又濃又香,印象頗佳,下次再來。

Today I went out with my co workers to have lunch. A group of 9 people went there and where are the first people in that place so finding a table wasn't a problem. 7 of us ordered lamb set lunch, 1 ordered chicken, and 1 ordered vegetarian set lunch. The set lunch includes rice, naan bread, and salad.The taste was ok. except one of the guy found a snail in his salad. Not a dead snail, it is actually live and moving. Today I went out with my co workers to have lunch. A group of 9 people went there and where are the first people in that place so finding a table wasn't a problem. 7 of us ordered lamb set lunch, 1 ordered chicken, and 1 ordered vegetarian set lunch. The taste was ok. except one of the guy found a snail in his salad. Not a dead snail, it is actually live and moving. The funny thing while we are still talking about it and before we can take a photo or something, the female owner of the restaurant came to our table quickly, picked up the snail and throw it away. Immediately, she told us it is Friday, I would prefer you guys get the bill settle now since there are people waiting outside. I was like WTF? Not only she didn't say sorry, but immediately she asked us to pay the bill and leave! Can you imagine this?
One guy saw a sign outside the restaurant mention there is discount if people pay with HSBC credit card, so we want to make sure it is applicable to lunch time. The guy ask the same woman, she replied very unfriendly with her broken English, "blah blah blah blah two hundred blah blah blah". We were like what? Before we can ask her agian, she already took the credit card and go to the cashier to charge it. Not only after she came back with a pen to ask the guy to sign the bill, we can ask her what she was saying. She said it only apply to dinner.

When we get back to office and split the bill up to 9 people, we found out she actually charged us 10 dollars more too. I think this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in Hong Kong. I guess the 10 dollars extra is for the live snail on one of the salad?!

做冬那天, 因為公司沒有傳統飯聚, 所以同事發起一起食飯做節我們三個一夠鐘就浩浩蕩蕩出發, 原本我提議飲茶但是人多得不得了, 三個人位至少要等十張台於是走上蓮香樓看看啦, 還是插針都不入.於是求其走入一間食印度菜(我的最愛~)眼見人客不多覺得好奇怪, 做冬日哪, 怎麼沒有人的?但是心想有幾多人做冬食印度菜呀, 就悄悄放心一點.點菜, 一人一個lunch set - 咖喱雞, 蝦, 瑪沙拉魚塊餐\連沙律, 米飯和naan及薄脆. 米飯超硬又油, naan沒有味道, 太厚身!沙律沒有特別, 薄脆沒有特別, 但其實要做得難食才有難度呢!主角來了, 三款咖哩顏色相似味道一樣, 沒有特色.我都無話可說了. 埋單位位$80. 我肯定我不會再去!!

主角來了, 三款咖哩顏色相似味道一樣, 沒有特色.

2007-07-31弟弟突然在12﹕45 打電話來說他身在上環﹐想跟我們一起午飯。唉﹐本來這天很遲才吃早餐﹐打算2 點後才吃午餐﹐不用和別人逼﹐所以亦沒有訂位﹐現在這個時候可以去哪兒呢﹖本來想去Billy Boy 碰碰運氣﹐怎知關門了﹐見這裡不用等位就想都不想就走進去。有位又多心這個時候有位﹐是不是東西很難吃呢﹖不過其實我們坐下不夠5 分鐘已經全店滿座了﹐不用太多心。午餐都是套餐﹐大概都是$58-68 一份﹐不用加一﹐包湯﹑papadam﹐沙律﹑飯﹑naan。要汽水/咖啡/茶等另加$10。分別要了瑪沙拉魚塊(Fish Tikka Masala)﹑香滑椰汁咖哩雞(Chicken Madras) 和咖哩羊肩。味道分明是調教至適合香港人的口味﹐不過還保留了淡淡的印度香料味﹐不要求正宗的﹐吃吃還是可以的。不過除了羊肩的份量比較多﹐其餘兩款都只有5-6 塊﹐如果大吃一點的可能要加飯才夠(吃到半路中途﹐有侍應埋來問要不要加飯的﹐好有屋企的感覺)。其中我覺得羊肩的味道最好﹐香料的層次比較分明。椰汁咖哩雞則比較甜了些﹐不是我們的那杯茶。瑪沙拉魚塊沒有什麼特別﹐不過起碼其魚塊不腥﹐又經過油炸的洗禮﹐是

My wife and I tried the set dinner at this restaurant and were quite delighted with the food. I wasn’t thinking of giving an evaluation so didn’t take any notes for a detail comment here. Basically, our impressions were that the food was quite authentic. There were spices that we didn’t normally taste in other Indian food. The price was reasonable at slightly above $200, much better value than those near LKF. Will definitely come back here when craving for Indian curry or tandoori chicken.

紅色暴雨警告高掛,卻約了朋友去上環吃飯,她不想改,就冒著大雨去赴會。誰不知她沒有帶傘,兩個人擠一把透明傘,當然大家都大半身濕掉。不能走太遠,我想吃點醒胃一點的,就去孖沙街,在馬來喇沙及咖哩的選擇下,她選了印度菜,原因竟然是~看起來少人一點。這裡台前幕後都是印巴籍人士,看樣子是幾正宗的。平日下午幾旺場,今天下大雨,當然門堪羅雀。午餐有菜/雞/羊/魚四款選擇,就要了羊Rogan Josh及雞Masala。是日餐湯是磨菇湯,稀稀的,但喝落都總算有一點點磨菇的味道;主菜是一大碟的上檯,連飯、沙律、naan及薄脆,不知好吃否,但一望就知不會吃不飽。Rogan Josh是香料煮羊肉,香料味道不錯,當中還加入了香茜及薑絲,汁底用來醮naan或薄脆都好,撈飯也可以。羊腩全廋肉,相當韌及柴皮,不吃也罷;朋友的Masala雞都不錯,但以味道計,也是Rogan Josh好一點;Naan烘得熱辣辣,脆口有餘但欠了一點質感,可以更好;薄脆略相當鬆脆,不錯;印度米飯不夠乾身,吃落有種似曾相識的感覺~咦?為何會諗起雞油飯的?好像是用雞湯煮成似的。連飲品兩杯,埋單110蚊,沒有加一。比起幾間中環的印度菜館,這裡略有不

It is a common practice to add food pictures in food comments. When I was dining with K last Thursday night, we came up with a new idea that we should take a photo of what had been left on the dishes. It is a common practice to add food pictures in food comments. When I was dining with K last Thursday night, we came up with a new idea that we should take a photo of what had been left on the dishes. A graphical representation is often more convincing than the literal one. The picture attached is a plate which originally contains lamb with cashew nuts paste and creamy curry. Obviously, I need not say anything how it tastes. Beside curry, we had the following dishes:

nan
veggie & potato pockets
green salad with Masala sauce
Mango laksi

Indian curry is characterised by its thick paste like curry sauce. In this lamb curry, the lamb had been stewed thoroughly without losing its original lamb flavour. When you have Indian curry, you should always have nan, an Indian style plain pizza. You may dip the whole thing into curry. You may put the thick paste with lamb in the middle of the nan and form a small pocket to serve. You may also just sever the nan into pieces, mix them with curry and eat them like baby food. I prefer the dipping style. The curry is spicy but not chilli, which gives you a sensation of heat and pain. It only gives you a heat sensation. You may sweat a bit but your stomach will be wide open to wait for more curry in nan. Veggie & potato pocket is a traditional Indian appetizer. It has a golden crispy surface with potato mash, peas and beans inside. It is nice to fill up your tummy during tea time. It may be a bit too heavy for appetizing. Green salad , therefore, is a neutralizer of this heavy small appetizer. Salad would be very plain for cannibal without any sauce. This green salad is served with Masala sauce. Of course, I don't know what masala sauce is. It may be their trade secret. But appropriate amount of masala gives colours to plain veggies. Laksi is basically sour milk added with fruits in cubes. Again it may be too heavy to have it during hot summer when one doesn't feel like eating. However, it may be a good diet breakie with laksi only.

The total cost was just $212. Definitely, I would like to go there again soon. It is a small new restaurant in Sheung Wan. As K said, we should give supports to those restaurants serving delicious food.
