Perhaps I should have made reservations beforehand as Taikooshing Citiplaza is always full of people and Hong Kong people love food. Ruby Tuesday maybe the only real American restaurant in the neighborhood. It was remodelled a few years ago and everything was maintained well. As we were led to our table, we walked by a salad bar that definitely needed some refilling and cleaning up. There are not many restaurants still serving salad bars except maybe at buffets. The salad bar was good and adequate. It had the usual salad vegetables, pasta salad and some fruits. After I mentioned I needed more lettuce, refilling was done beautifully. However, you might have to prepare for the long wait in line for getting your food because other customers were having so much fun piling up their dishes and constructing walls on their plates with cucumber slices so they can put even more food in them.
I had a tomato soup which was luke warm and just OK laa. After that, I had a veggie burger that I enjoyed and I substituted the fries with a loaded potato with butter and sour cream. My friend had a classic burger which was up to standard. But what we liked most was the dessert-the Tall Cake ie. chocolate cake with ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. It was in big glass and the amount was satisfying. We had a lot of fun having the dessert. When it was time to pay the bill, it wasn't cheap at all and we were even more surprised to find out members who had paid membership fee could get 50% off everything, including drinks. That was a deep discount and no wonder members kept on coming back. However, that made me think what about regular customers like me ? Are they overcharging me ????
